In the 2021 home opener against Texas Southern on September 11th, Baylor was hammering the Tigers 52-0 when the visitors looked close to ending the shutout. But Jalen Pitre forced a fumble at the three yard line, and JT Woods scooped up the ball.
Woods ran the ball back all the way to the south endzone for a 97-yard scoop and score to make the score 59-0. It was the longest fumble return touchdown in Baylor’s history and ended up being the second longest score of the year for the Bears. This helped him earn Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors as well.
Woods had scored for the second straight week after returning an interception 20 yards for a TD in the season opener at Texas State the week before.
By the end of the season, Woods had amassed six interceptions to go along with his fumble recovery, which helped him get drafted in the third round of the NFL draft by the Los Angeles Chargers.
