The dude was a beast for Grant Teaff and the Bears back in his day.
As a freshman, he was called "the designated scorer" because he always got the ball near the goal line.
My greatest memory of him was when Baylor beat then-#3-ranked Arkansas, coached by Lou Holtz, 24-17 after trailing 17-7 at the half.
Alfred went in for the go-ahead TD with only a few seconds left on the clock.

The other reason I remember it is because my then-spouse told me she was filing for divorce after we got home from Waco.

It all turned out okay.

Anyone who does not know and revere Alfred Anderson is NOT a true Baylor fan.

When announcing his commitment he stated he was proud to be playing for the state of Waco. He was a great player.

If I'm not mistaken, he played some QB in high school and was for sure a threat to throw a halfback pass from time to time. I recall in our game with SMU during his freshman year in '80 after we went down big to the Ponies early in the game he threw a TD pass that got us going on the comeback trail and we eventually came from way behind to win a classic game during that conference championship season.
