BREAKING: Baylor's Matt Rhule named Big 12 Coach of the Year

Baylor head coach Matt Rhule was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year by the Big 12 Conference on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears (11-1) will compete for the 2019 Big 12 Championship on Saturday against Oklahoma just two years removed from a 1-11 record in 2017. 

After winning just one Big 12 game during his first season in Waco , Rhule’s 2019 team flipped the script and matched the 2013 and 2014 Baylor teams with an 8-1 record in Big 12 play. Baylor is ranked No. 7 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and are still in play for a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Rhule is 18-17 in his three seasons at Baylor including a 7-6 record in 2018. In seven seasons total between Temple and Baylor, Rhule has amassed a 47-41 record including a win in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championship over Navy.

Just amazing what CMR and his staff have done here. The rebuild, the process, the lows and the highs, he is already making Baylor football history as a coach who was willing go step into the mess that was left behind and just get to work rebuilding. This season has almost completely quieted the neighsayers. Congrats and SIC 'EM, CMR!!!!!

I hope Baylor can keep Rhule. I live in NJ and he is on everyone's list (top 3) on the local sports talk programs for the Giant's job if it comes open.
