Was raining in the mountains this afternoon and I couldn't get this one outta my head. Can't believe it's been 51 years since I first played the grooves off of this record in Penland Hall, 2-south.

Also can't believe Johnny Rivers is not in the R&R Hall of Fame. Utter BS

Burn Me from the new album by Shea Abshier and the Night Howlers. Never heard of it or them before tonight. But catching their act at the Greenhorn Saloon in Bluff Dale.

Great place and an awesome band.

THIS IS MY *****!!

Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.

Has anyone seen the Heart rendition of Stairway to Heaven performed at the tribute to Led Zeppelin awhile back?

I think it's questionably better than the original

Idk how to post YouTube on my iPhone or I would because it's beautiful

Hi Florda_mike, Happy to make the assist. Love watching this video. As many times as I have watched it, I still get misty-eyed everytime I see John Bonham's son Jason tap his heart and gesture towards Plant, Page & Jones in the audience.

There's exceptionally rare cases where the cover is better than the original.

This is close, but the timbre and tonality of Plant can't be surpassed on this track. He's like Dio on some songs...nobody but him could sing it right.

Excellent cover though, well done.

You really can never do a cover better when doing an iconic song.

George Straits Amarillo by morning Is better than Terry Staffords

I have to agree there, but I first heard it by Kelly Schoppa back in Houston circa 1980, and for me that's the "real" version. It was on the radio all the time back then. George Strait heard Kelly's version, loved it, and recorded it and it became his signature song. It's too bad for Kelly that it became George's song, as it was probably the biggest thing Kelly ever did and the closest he came to being a star. People often thought Kelly was covering George.

We may just have to get internet pistols at dawn ..... but I wouldn't call any of those iconic in the way Stairway is

Each of those songs are iconic in their respective genres, I'd say.

Hendrix did All Along the Watchtower better than Dylan, even Bob said so.

Likewise, Neil Young covered Four Strong Winds better than Ian and Sylvia Tyson.

Back to Dylan, Bob said Positively 4th Street by Johnny Rivers was his favorite. And nobody can dispute that the Byrds had the best versions of Mr. Tambourine Man and You Ain't Going Nowhere.

Agree -

Just saying iconic - which to me is a very narrow set list. Many covers better than original.

Yesterday is the most covered song ever - iconic, & no cover better

Could anyone do Bohemian Rhapsody or Imagine better?

A lot of people could do imagine. It's not a particularly complex or technically challenging song.

Nobody could do Bohemian tho. Google the sheet music for it.

I don't think there's a ton of George Jones covers that I've ever heard. Dwight Yoakam either.
