So I would assume that unless Jerry Rice re-enters the draft at his age 25 self, we dont go WR at 19. Fills one hole for a season or two.

OG, DT, LB, S

With up to 5 QBs projected ahead of us, that leaves 13 other positions before we get to the table. We are gonna have some nice options, possibly the top player at that position.

mmmm.... no;

Giants cut WR Dwayne Harris after injury-shortened 2017

The Giants signed Harris to a five-year, $17.5 million deal in 2015. They restructured his deal last season, a pay cut that could be recouped through incentives that he never ultimately hit.

ex Cowboy news. Not a big fan of either one of the Bennett brothers as people but they were both decent football players.

On the news of his brothers felony charge...

Martellus Bennett has retired from the NFL. Bennett had been considering retirement before his trade to the Patriots and made it official when they didn't bring him back. After spending his first four years as a backup in Dallas, Bennett was one of the better receiving tight ends in the league for parts of six seasons with the Giants, Chicago, Green Bay and New England. He finishes his 10-year career with 433 catches, 4,573 yards and 30 touchdowns. Bennett made one Pro Bowl appearance (2014). He won a Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2016.

we need another S. It sounds like its a buyers market:
--------------------
By and large, free agency in the NFL played out this month in the exact opposite manner of how it transpired in baseball. Teams with abundant cap space dove into the deep end of the financial pool before the markets even officially opened at the start of the league year, and dozens of marginal players received handsome compensation. Within days, the top talent was off the market.

Well, except for the safety position. Things look a lot more like Major League Baseball in terms of the way the market has unfolded, or, frankly, failed to unfold. This offseason in MLB was about a slow, patience-testing waiting game between teams and free agents, with long-term deals difficult to come by, with the market far softer than we had seen in recent years and with elite players going far into spring training without a new team. Words like collusion were tossed around here and there, and the MLBPA and agent community believed something fishy might be going on.

And some of that same sort of chatter is going around in football circles, but on a far more position-specific basis. Agents for quality safeties -- guys who have been productive and healthy for the most part and who aren't at the end of their careers -- are getting beyond frustrated at the stagnant market, with salaries in a holding pattern at best. Several have reached out to the NFLPA to vent, I'm told, and are casting a jaundiced eye at NFL teams who seem to have strikingly similar financial evaluations on their players.

Bottom line is that at a time when the passing game is all the rage and middling quarterbacks along with receivers and corners are reaping massive contracts, safeties are having a difficult time getting legit offers, much less making a buck.

It's pretty bizarre. Even guys who can make plays on the ball are being largely shut out or limited to no-frills negotiations at a time when even running backs and two-down inside linebackers have gotten paid. There has been almost no movement at this position, and guys like Eric Reid (age 26), Kenny Vaccaro (27), Tre Boston (25), and Ron Parker (30) all still trying to find work, to say nothing of a group of older veterans who have still performed at a high level in recent years, like Corey Graham, Darius Butler and Reggie Nelson.

"We're barely even getting phone calls, and we're not the only ones," said one agent who is involved in the safety market. "You can't even get (BS) offers. We're literally getting nothing. I'm not even talking one year, $3 million. Nothing. And it's not just us."

Indeed, league sources indicated that several of the best remaining safeties on the market have been in communication with one another, sharing their experiences and trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Parker, Vaccaro, Reid and others have spoken about the fact that they can't seem to find a market, with different theories being espoused as to why. Going back to the combine it seems teams were taking a hardline stance on around $5 million to $7 million per year on safeties, and no one was getting close to what they had originally hoped for. The safety who did the best, actually, didn't do a thing, as the Rams placed the franchise tag on Lamarcus Joyner, which will earn him more than $11 million in 2018.

Kurt Coleman got a deal quickly with New Orleans after he was cut by Carolina last month -- he didn't have to wait for the league year to open to officially sign -- but that three-year, $16 million was an outlier. Morgan Burnett had aimed for $10 million and couldn't get $5 million per year on a three-year deal with the Steelers. Tyrann Mathieu had hoped to reach around that figure as well when he turned down an offer to stay in Arizona on a reduced salary and ended up getting from the Texas $7 million on just a one-year deal, roughly half of what he was set to make originally in 2018.

That $7 million figure is the highest annual value for a safety this offseason, with 45 players at other positions bettering it on the open market, while 44 non-safeties got deals worth more than Coleman's max value. Only two safeties got over $5 million per year thus far at a time when receivers like Donte Moncrief are getting double that.

At various times this offseason clubs like the Packers, Browns, Bucs and Cowboys have been sniffing around on safeties, and, boy, there are still plenty of them to choose from. Twenty-five remain on the market as we speak.

Perhaps this market will open up some next week with all owners, coaches and general managers huddled together in Orlando at the annual spring meeting. There is also the specter of a potential trade for Seattle All-Pro Earl Thomas -- the best safety in the game, when healthy -- that could be somewhat hampering the free agent market. Thomas is available (the initial asking price was high: a first- and third-round pick) and the Seahawks have engaged with several teams about him, and Thomas wants a healthy new deal wherever he goes, I'm told.

Giants very interested in Will Hernandez. Surely not that the top of the draft - but early in 2nd. Means wed have to trade back (not at 19 I wouldnt think) but before 34 where Giants pick

Would you trade 19 for Clevelands two early 2nds? 33 and 35? Or not quite as good, Indys 36 and 37?

Agree...Switzer is our return guy and Harris was never all that as a receiver.

Only with the intent of then trading back into the first round late for a specific player, otherwise let the draft come to you.

Wouldnt take a lot to get from 33 down a spot - that extra year on the 1st round contract could come in handy.

No doubt the Browns are in control of this draft early. 1 and 4 in the first round and 1 and 3 in the second. I would be very surprised it they trade out of 1. However they could move back a bit on 4 - I think the retirement of Joe Thomas puts them in a position where they will have to draft a LT. Kolton Miller from UCLA maybe? Too high for him I think. Trade back to 8-12 maybe with someone wanting a QB? Or Okies Orlando Brown - I think hes in the second half of the 1st although he tested for crap at the combine. Tape shows a player.

really strange OT class - the mocks are all over the place. Geron Christian from Louisville, Mike McGlinchey from ND or Connor Williams from WhoT?

If we decide that Collins is better at LG, we could be in that mix too. I dont think so, I think OG in the 2nd or 3rd would be our spot. I also think Hernandez will go late 1st, early 2nd. And would be surprised if he made it to 50

The names that are most interesting for the O line still out there are T Cameron Fleming, formerly with the New England Patriots, and G Marcus Martin of the Cleveland Browns. Both visited Dallas earlier this week, and there is still no word on them. Another visitor, T LaAdrian Waddle, also out of New England, reportedly re-signed there. That seems to indicate Fleming won't go back home, which may mean the Cowboys are very much still in play for him. They still appear to be in the mix for Martin as well. Those two would be big in setting Dallas up for the NFL draft

Fleming has spent his entire four-year career with the Patriots, filling in at multiple spots on the offensive line. He most recently played in 15 games last season, starting six at right tackle. It's uncertain what Fleming's role will be with the Cowboys but there has been speculation that he could be a starting tackle, moving La'el Collins back to guard. However, the odds are good that he will be a well-paid insurance policy and play swing tackle for the Cowboys.
When Tyron Smith was out last season, the Cowboys struggled to do anything on offense and went on a losing streak. Cameron Fleming, at the very least, brings quality starting experience to the offensive line, should he be be needed in a pinch. Overall, Fleming has played in 47 games, starting 20 of them and you can find more about his career from our free agency focus piece back in January.
At 25, Fleming is the perfect type of free agent acquisition to bring on the roster as he's still in the prime of his career. Now that the Cowboys have signed two wide receivers, a linebacker, and an offensive tackle, they have quietly addressed some of their biggest holes on the roster.

So our backup OT Byron Bell is still there without a contract. He did preform better than Chaz Green. But then again, we found out quickly that Green is pure RT or OG. Cannot slide to his left. No LT can survive like that

What will the Cowboys do with Dez Bryant?
Posted by Mike Florio on March 24, 2018, 10:54 AM EDT

With Allen Hurns in, some believe Dez Bryant will soon be out.
Executives with other teams are now monitoring the situation in Dallas in order to see whether the Cowboys will cut the veteran receiver. Due to make $12.5 million in 2018, Bryant no longer is regarded as someone who will earn that type of salary via his performance.
The team's decision to give Hurns, who was cut by the Jaguars this week, a two-year, $12 million deal has sparked increased speculation that Bryant is indeed on the outs. It remains possible that the Cowboys and Bryant will agree on a new deal that pays him much less than $12.5 million. The benefit for Bryant could be an agreement to wipe out the 2019 season of his contract, making him a free agent after this year.
If he stays at a reduced salary, the question becomes setting the right amount. One source suggested that the Hurns deal has cash flow of $5 million this year; maybe the Cowboys will try to get Bryant to cut his pay to $6 million.
Whatever the outcome, it's looking less and less likely that the Cowboys will be paying Bryant $12.5 million this year.

Back in the Dallas mix I would assume:

Maurice Hurst cleared to play, will work out at U-M pro day
Mar 22, 2018

Wolverines defensive tackle Maurice Hurst, a potential first-round draft pick, has met with cardiologists at the University of Michigan and Harvard, and they have cleared him to resume playing football, a league source said.
Hurst will do a full workout at Michigan's pro day on Friday.
Hurst was diagnosed with a heart condition at the NFL combine and did not work out with the other defensive linemen.
This is not the first instance in which a college standout has been diagnosed with a heart condition.
In 2013, an echocardiogram on Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei detected a heart condition. A medical recheck showed there was no dysfunction, and Lotulelei was eventually drafted in the first round by the Carolina Panthers. He signed a five-year contract with the Buffalo Bills last week as a free agent.

Cowboys signed OT Cameron Fleming, formerly of the Patriots.
Dallas was Fleming's only free agent visit. The Patriots had interest in bringing him back, but let him walk after losing Nate Solder. Fleming managed solid PFF grades despite allowing four sacks over 369 snaps last year. A swingman in New England, Fleming should start at right tackle with the Cowboys, moving La'El Collins back to guard.
