Now this could be huge;
The Dallas Morning News reports suspended DE Randy Gregory is in the process of applying for reinstatement.
Gregory hasn't appeared in a game since the final week of 2016. He's been "laying the groundwork" for a return and could meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell this offseason. EVP Stephen Jones said at the Combine he was moving forward without Gregory, but the Dallas Morning News expects the Cowboys to find a place for him if he's cleared. Despite not showing much before his suspensions, getting Gregory back would give the Cowboys a pass-rushing upgrade in subpackages.

Multiple sources say Randy Gregory has been faithfully laying the groundwork for his return to the NFL and has reached the stage where his representatives are in the process of doing the work necessary to apply for reinstatement.
The defensive end has been banned from the NFL for repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy. He hasn't taken the field since the Cowboys' final game of the 2016 season.
There are still steps to take and paperwork to file before Gregory is close to going before commissioner Roger Goodell to petition for his reinstatement. But sources say he is doing well, adhering to his program and the feeling around him is said to be positive.
Executive vice president Stephen Jones told reporters in February during the scouting combine in Indianapolis that the club must move forward as if Gregory wouldn't be with the team for the upcoming season. That's different from saying the club doesn't want him back.
The club would likely do all it could to find a place for Gregory if he's cleared to return at some point.
Gregory checked himself into a treatment center during the summer of '16 intending to complete the program before the Cowboys reported to training camp on July 28. Sources at that time said Gregory left the facility for a weekend and missed a scheduled test.
A missed test carries the same weight as a failed test once a player is in the NFL's program.
Gregory was placed on the reserve/did not report list and did not take part in training camp. He was moved to the reserve/suspended list once the season was underway to allow him to return to the facility.
Gregory opened the '16 season with a four-game suspension then had another 10 games tacked on for yet another violation. He played in the final two games that season while the appeal of his current suspension was pending.
Gregory tested positive for marijuana in February 2015 at the NFL Scouting Combine and entered the league in the first stage of its substance abuse program. That's the reason he slid to the Cowboys in the second round of the draft. He tested positive for marijuana twice at Nebraska, in January and April of 2014, and was told he would be kicked off the team if he failed a third time.
Gregory failed/missed at least five tests while a member of the Cowboys.
