According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, contract negotiations between Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are ongoing, though it's unclear if a deal will be reached ahead of Sunday's 4:25 PM ET kickoff against the Giants.

After locking up workhorse running back Ezekiel Elliott earlier this week, the Cowboys have turned their attention to franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. The 2016 Rookie of the Year turned down the Cowboys' initial offer of $30 million annually, which would have been slightly less than recent deals given to Carson Wentz and Jared Goff.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Prescott is in "no rush" to sign, owing to the $50 million he already makes in endorsements and multiple insurance policies protecting him from a career-threatening injury. Headed for free agency, Prescott could be a candidate for the franchise tag if the two sides aren't able to find a deal that works for both sides.

  Early word out of Dallas was that Elliott would be limited to somewhere between 20-25 snaps coming off his summer-long holdout, but the Cowboys seem to be rethinking that as the fourth-year back is reportedly in "great shape" and made "an immediate positive impression" in his return to practice this week. Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk, who oversaw Zeke's workouts in Cabo, believes the two-time rushing champ is prepared for his "normal" workload, a sentiment shared by ESPN's Jordan Raanan, who reported that we will see "a lot" of Elliott in Week 1. Rookie Tony Pollard could see some change-of-pace work, but fantasy owners should be bracing for a heavy dose of Zeke in Sunday's opener.

Cowboys CB Byron Jones (hip) will be limited in Week 1 against the Giants.Jones is expected to play but will reportedly have his snaps "closely monitored" following offseason hip surgery. It's a plus for Sterling Shepard as he'll now avoid Dallas' best corner in place of Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown.
