17. Dallas | Zach Harrison | EDGE | Ohio St.

The Cowboys do not have much consistent edge pressure behind DeMarcus Lawrence. While Randy Gregory has huge potential and seems to finally be in a great place and ready to contribute to an entire season for the first time since, well, ever, there are no assurances to how that will play out. Even if it does end in greatness and a new contract, the club will still need another player to put into the rotation.
Harrison was a big talking point in the Buckeyes spring game, hitting the gym and reshaping his body. The improvements have moved him into the conversation to be the next high-impact edge player out of a pipeline that continues to churn them out.
From Pro Football Network:
Quote:

Beyond having an elite name for a defensive lineman, Harrison undoubtedly passes the eye test for his scouting report. Standing at 6'6, 268 pounds, Harrison is long and burly. With his size, he can rush outside to inside, and he also has some positional versatility. Ohio State mainly used him on the edge in 2020, but he has shaded inside on occasion, even to zero-technique at one point against Indiana.
While Harrison possesses some versatility, his best role might be at defensive end. There, his physical skill set meshes best. Harrison has excellent straight-line explosiveness, and he converts speed to power well. His stride lengths cover lots of ground, and he flashes acceleration around the edge. He's reportedly been timed with a 4.47 40-yard dash, so it comes as no surprise that his explosiveness impresses.

49. Dallas | Bubba Bolden | S | Miami (FL)
The Cowboys hope that they solved the hole at safety with some low-risk additions in the 2021 offseason. Dallas signed Damontae Kazee out of Altanta to reunite him with his former head coach and the Cowboys' current defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Kazee however is recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in October. Despite having plenty of firepower, the Cowboys neglected the position until the sixth round of the draft when they selected South Carolina's Israel Mukuamu with the intent to move him to centerfield.
Bolden stands 6-foot-3 and wieghs 200 pounds and seems like the prototype physically for the NFL's shift to split (or even triple) safeties capable to playing deep and in the box as well as versatile enough to line up in the slot. He has some red flags associated with himself off the field, which may be an issue for some teams.
Again, from PFN:
Quote:

The redshirt senior did not disappoint in 2020. While teammate Jaelan Phillips was elevating his NFL Draft stock, Bolden provided solid production from the secondary. In nine starts, he tallied 74 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 4 forced fumbles.
His performances earned him multiple ACC Defensive Back of the Week awards. The first came against Louisville, where he terrorized the Cardinals' offense to the tune of 11 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and a tackle for loss. Even in a heavy defeat to Clemson, his 10 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 2 blocked field goals were enough to land the honor. Additionally, he was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and received second-team All-ACC recognition.

Second-round selection Kelvin Joseph has a chance to start opposite Trevon Diggs. While that might represent an upgrade in talent, last season showed the risk involved with relying heavily on rookie cornerbacks. Eight of the 20 highest yards per coverage snap marks at the cornerback position belonged to rookies in 2020, including Diggs in Dallas.

Dak ranked at 7th best QB in NFL ahead of Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Kyler Murray (ESPN rankings)

7. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Highest ranking: 7 | Lowest ranking: 14
Age: 27 | Last year's ranking: 9

Prescott surpassed Lamar Jackson in a close race that prompted an isolated matchup with new voters for good measure. For some, the reasoning was simple.

"Lamar is a better all-around football player, Dak is the better QB," one AFC exec said.

Prescott's ankle injury didn't hurt his standing. In fact, it might have helped, placing a focus on his stellar production in the five games before the injury. Prescott threw for 1,856 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions before falling to the turf in Week 5. The Cowboys were first in passing yards per game with Prescott (381.4) and 28th without him (204.9).

"He, individually, was pretty impressive," said a veteran NFL quarterback. "Couldn't do better than that. It was high-level play."

Prescott, however, has not always been great against high-level teams. In 2019, Dallas was 1-6 against opponents that made the playoffs, with Prescott throwing for eight touchdowns to eight interceptions in those matchups. Against non-playoff teams, Prescott cleaned up, with 22 touchdowns to three interceptions and a 7-2 record. For his career, Prescott is 9-17 against eventual playoff teams. Of course, the Cowboys' defense has been a major issue the past few seasons too.

That record will change with better a Dallas defense around him, some voters say.

"He can throw it deep into the playoffs because of his ability to be accurate from the pocket at all levels and also extend plays with his legs," a veteran NFL quarterback said.

With training camp on the horizon, the Dallas Cowboys have made a roster cut.

On Saturday, the Cowboys announced they released cornerback Rashard Robinson.

Robinson, 25, was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft out of LSU. Robinson played for the 49ers and the New York Jets from 2016-18 before joining the Cowboys for the 2020 season.

2018 Draft revisited

Best player: Michael Gallup
After his Pro Bowl rookie season, Leighton Vander Esch appeared to be the easy answer to this question, but neck and collarbone injuries have put his future in limbo. Gallup had a breakout season in year two with 66 catches for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns over 14 games, when he led the team in receiving yards per game. With the addition of CeeDee Lamb, Gallup's future in Dallas is clouded, but he should cash in next offseason.

Best value (outside the first round): Gallup
The ninth receiver drafted in 2018, Gallup has combined for 1,950 receiving yards the past two seasons. That's 24th in the NFL and second among receivers drafted in 2018 (behind Calvin Ridley). With 80 players chosen ahead of him, Gallup has certainly outplayed his original draft spot. The Cowboys also found a steal among the undrafted free agents with cornerback Charvarius Ward, whom they traded to Kansas City, where he has 16 passes defended over the past two seasons as a starter.

Biggest miss: Dorance Armstrong
Despite the Cowboys not picking up his fifth-year option, I am not ready to label Vander Esch as a "miss" just yet because he has All-Pro potential if he stays on the field. Armstrong has had a nondescript three-year run in Dallas (2.5 career sacks), despite the team giving him every opportunity to stay on the field. With the Cowboys going front-seven heavy in this year's draft, Armstrong will be fighting for a job.

Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want
So tell me what you want, what you really, really want
I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want
So tell me what you want, what you really, really want
I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha)
I wanna really, really, really wanna zigazig ah

If you want my future, forget my past
If you wanna draft me, better make it fast
Now don't go wasting my precious time
Get your act together we could be just fine

So to me the premier spots we need for 2021, Badass at C, whomever at the CB opposite Diggs, who is going to step up at DL and the health of the OL.

I'm not that worried about Dak's wheels or Zekes comeback. We have just too much talent in the OL

However, if Dak goes down....

The league intends to play its entire 272-game schedule over 18 weeks (17 games per club). And this is key: "We do not anticipate adding a '19th week' to accommodate games that cannot be rescheduled within the current 18 weeks of the regular season." Play on time or don't play.
