That would be a shocker to see a guy let go after barely over a year

"If AU fires him at any point this football season, it will owe the coach $15.3 million on his contract's buyout clause, and the school would have to pay 50 percent of that number within 60 days of firing him.

Bryan Harsin at Auburn: The saga

Life in the SEC has been tumultuous from the start for Harsin.

His tenure at Auburn began despite the protest of some football boosters who wanted the school to sign former defensive coordinator Kevin Steele as head coach over Harsin.

Auburn then went 6-7, winning just three SEC games, and ending on a five-game losing skid, including to unranked South Carolina, to Alabama, and No. 20 Houston in the Birmingham Bowl.

Then came an offseason of upheaval on the coaching staff (that actually began in-season), a wave of transfers (including quarterback Bo Nix), and public statements from former players complaining about Harsin's coaching methods.

That resulted in Auburn launching an investigation into those claims, but ultimately deciding to retain the coach.

Auburn ranks in the mid-50s nationally on the recruiting front, last in the SEC, and the program has generally struggled to gain any positive momentum under his watch."

Wouldn't be a surprise at all. Way too much drama and weird stuff in that program.

This quote amuses me.

Maybe they should listen to those boosters that want Steele.

He would definitely take the Auburn football to a new level.

Hardin also skipped the Bo Jackson celebrity golf tournament and the alumni arentsee8ng the results.

The new AD will have to raise the funds for his buyout.

Tennessee almost hired Steele as well about the same time. He took a season off after missing on those two jobs and is now back as Miami's DC.

Mizzou had to throw that game to lose it...miss a 26 yard FG at the gun then fumble the ball into the endzone in OT at the 1.

And his defense was allowing 360 yards on 11 completions at one point today ... to Middle Tennessee State.

He was a poor choice for Auburn.

Dorell at CU isn't going anywhere. CU doesn't care about winning any more. All of my CU friends and acquaintances have resigned themselves to being forever lackluster and the administration doesn't care either.

Ha..Dorell is as good as gone..did you see that kiss of death email the AD sent to the boosters? No program..no matter how 'woke' or 'lib' you perceive it is in Division 1 is gonna stay with the same guy if they keep getting their heads bashed in every week.

If Stanford opened, it would present some interesting situations.

It's really strange how Shaw has slowly flamed out after such a great start

Harsin was in the hot seat in his first year. This isn't news.

It really makes me wonder if his success was largely because of Harbaugh and Shaw just hasn't been able to recruit/coach as well once Harbaugh's recruits left?

Or did he lose a bunch of assistants that did much of the work and that has caused Shaw to decline?

Either way it seems that his decline has shown a weakness in his HC abilities that you think many ADs would question when/if he is let go.....

Harsin was on the hot seat day 1 of the job. That investigation also drug his name through the mud saying he had an affair with a staffer or something. All of this while he was on a family vacation.

Auburn is a **** show and everyone within 500 miles knows it. That's why they had to hire Harsin, a West Coast guy. Billy Napier apparently couldn't flee Auburn fast enough during the interview process the dysfunction was so apparent. Their boosters are probably worse than Texas, and I know that'll get eye rolls on this board, but they literally made up the man was having an affair while he vacationed with his family in an attempt to fire him with cause after 1 season.
