BU ranked 16 in Week 5 AP poll

Kansas was just outside the Top 25. They would certainly punch their ticket next week if they beat ISU.
Texas fans puzzled why they did not move up in the rankings after losing yesterday

OU and Arky did fall behind us so we could have been 15….but somehow Washington leapfrogged us.
They beat a 1-1 Stanford at home while we beat a 3-0 ISU on the road….so it makes sense why they jumped us.

They were undefeated last week when they were behind us. They have wins over Kent St, Portland St, Mich St, and Stanford. None of those teams have a winning record.
I know it's not really a big deal early in the season….it was just interesting.
They really shouldn't have polls until early October. Meaningless preseason polls overrank many teams and then the first 5 or 6 polls are spent jumbling teams. I'm sure some pollsters (probably those on the West Coast with an ulterior motive......haha) can look and say Washington has actually beaten a ranked team (Michigan St, which was now obviously way overranked in preseason) while Baylor lost its only game against a ranked opponent. Will be interesting when the voters' individual ratings are released to see which region lifted Washington.
No worries. We get a shot this week to show if we are real, or just another pretender. Beat Ok State and I bet we are in the Top 10 next week or at worst, #11 or #12.

Yep….agree. Funny thing is….if we had not started the season ranked we would probably still not be ranked right now even after that nice win yesterday.

A lot of times the rankings are a week behind. Maybe voters do not like to move teams too far in one week so they spread it out over two.

They still got 25 votes in the coaches poll. SMH.

The CFP isn't perfect, but I do like that they all meet in person and have discussion about where to place the teams. That at least brings in some checks and balances for anyone that is way off on evaluating a team.EvilTroyAndAbed said:

Yeah and I'm hoping WV takes a big L Saturday in Austin. That fanbase is already teetering in regards to Coach Brown. An L in Austin will dampen their excitement and hopefully the crowd turnout for our game
