You want to stop fans from doing this....then install FENCES or maybe an electric fence......Rushing the field is stupid....

What the hell has happened to just some basic level of civility? All of this over some stupid football game. WTH?
How about the TTU admin AND the head football coach speak out against this?

Just curious, but has BYU ever played Texas Tech in Lubbock before? Holy Mother of God, welcome to the Big-12 indeed!

Big disappointment in them if they don't.

Btw I went to a Texas v Tech game at DKR 3 years ago Texas came back to win it. I witnessed nothing but class from Horns in the stands toward their Red Raider guests. I came away thinking those folks in burnt orange remind me a lot of Baylor folks in many ways.

Maybe it just depends where your seats are. Before the UT/Bama game there was video of the UT students chanting "cousin fckers" to the Bama players on the field.

Sadly....all fan bases have some embarrassing fans....maybe some schools have more than others though.

1. Texas Tech should've addressed this Saturday not 24 hours later. Maybe announce the police will handle it from here then but they needed a statement out right after the incident sayin they're on top of it.
2. Praising the Horns is not in my vocabulary but major kudos to the player for not escalating the situation.
3. Storming the field after a big win is a student tradition, but maybe they should allow the opposing team to exit the field before the rush. Could be done via hefty fines for storming it before the opposing team has exited the field.

Those going up there for the Baylor game just be careful. I think Tech, like TCU and even ISU, has some inexplicable hatred for Baylor and Baylor folks.

It is not inexplicable. They hate us cause they aint us. We are different, we market our school and our alumni/students as being different, even as being better than them. They dont like that because in 99% of all instances it is true.

I went to Lubbock once for a ball game in college. It was Tech vs A&M and my Aggie buddies had to be escorted to the designated aggy section by police bc they feared they would be jumped, assaulted or have things thrown at them. This was about 15 minutes before kickoff. I also saw about 6-7 fights throughout the weekend. That was my first and last time back to that ****hole.

Stuff like this is why I don't enjoy traveling to away games in any fashion. I felt like I was going to be knifed at Chavez Ravine for the 17 World Series…it's just not worth it anymore.
Go to a byu game when Baylor plays there again. Friendliest, most knowledgeable fans I've ever met.

I dont feel like Tech hates us near as much as TCU does. At least that has always been my experience.

I think ISU feels like they are above us (for some reason) and we really gave them a beatdown during the Briles era. That may be the origin of the irrational hatred.

I have no idea why they would feel they are above us. We have won 51% of our games through our history and they have won 46% of their games throughout their history. Even back in 2009 before the turnaround our historic record was better.

I don't think that is a wise business decision to pay the penalty for violence. It can be construed as this bank's endorsement of it.

What conference prevents fans from rushing the field?

Last year atm rushed the field after winning against bama. So the sec rushes the field.

I think Arkansas and Kentucky did it last year.

Stanford rushed the field last year. So the pac 12 is out

Iowa did it. So the big 10 is out.

Boston college did it last year. So the ACC is out.

Every conference has teams that do it. So which conference has such hefty fines that the students care about it enough to not rush the field?

3 sec teams that I can find rushed the field last year.

One of the biggest was atm over bama. The sec doesn't stop it from happening any more than any other conference.

exas A&M has been fined $100,000 by the Southeastern Conference for violating the policy on fans entering the field of play, it was announced Monday. Aggies fans stormed Kyle Field in College Station after kicker Seth Small's 28-yard field goal sealed a 41-38 upset win over then-No. 1 Alabama on Saturday night.Oct 11, 2021

I never said the SEC stops it. They control it better. I think a 100k fine vs 50k fine says a whole lot more in ways of a deterrent.

The SEC does charge a school $250k for their first rush. Goes exponentially higher after that.

Not surprised.

Who can forget the 2001 A&M @ Tech game. Raiders stormed the field and shoved the goalposts directly into the ags visiting sections causing a melee. An A&M politician or regent got punched in the face.

If it still happens in that conference at the same rate (or more) than other conferences then they aren't controlling it better. They just fine more for it.

Yes they fined them. But the fans don't care and still rushed the field. So did two other sec teams last year. The sec doesn't do any better than any other conference in stopping it.

Agreed. The fans aren't paying the fine, so they don't care what the amount is; they're still going to do it.

That was awesome. The aggy that got punched in the face actually got punched by another aggy. The whole aftermath of that game was greatness and the shaggybevo thread about it was a classic.
