What is amazing is SMU folks don't seem to care he left. I'm talking the alums as well. That shows just how committed SMU is now. Kind of sad considering some of the history.
To be fair, he made it clear he was going to the P5 the first moment he could. And the fact he made it known to us through his agent that he'd jump over to us three months before the start of the season last year left a bad taste in people's mouth within the SMU administration, and who can blame them.

He is going to miss how easy he had it at SMU. The Arky fanbase is certainly rabid but they will turn on you in an instant. And they have nothing else to talk about up there. So it's in your head ALL THE TIME.

It was easy just showing up and mowing yards for money. But having a more demanding job with pressure and a nice income is good and I don't miss mowing yards. I think the money will salve any angst CCM has about leaving SMU. Plus at Arky - if he wins - he can [1]place his mistress on staff and give her motorcycle rides. Arky learned the hard way you don't fire a winnning coach for doing that stuff.

If we want to win immediately, Kendall Briles. Him and Morris together could own Texas recruiting and put an offense that is very difficult to match.

But I don't know if Morris would be willing to hire him or deal with the blow-back.

It is hard to say how successful Morris will be at Arkansas but it is almost certain that he will be more successful than Bielema, a big ten guy whose recruiting, coaching, and play calling style was completely out of touch with modern college football. Rhule will have the same problem Bielema had.

Having studied both, Rhule is more wide open than Bielema ever dreamed of being. Baylor this past season could hit the explosive long play but attrition on the offensive line really killed the consistent gains on the ground, pass protection, and red zone schemes.

Two are pretty different although the short yardage formations are similar.

That staff would be a nightmare to recruit against. Arkansas would have the best Texas pipeline in college football.

Neither Chad Morris nor Kendal Briles have done anything that special. Sure, FAU going 10-3 is great, but 10-3 in the Sunbelt or CUSA is different than even 10-3 in the AAC, and SMU has accomplished nothing meaningful over the last 3 seasons.

It's great to play the what if game, but, at some point, one has to factor in reality.

And that's the deal breaker for a Caber, having to embrace reality.
