Hold the phone. Is there more info on this? Guilty of sexual assault, and still on the team?LBKBEAR said:
Jett Duffey is their starting quarterback. Tech's Title IX department found him guilty of raping a girl. It seems like missing a spring semester and a summer semester for raping a girl didn't teach him a lot.

Technically, Title IX does not find someone "guilty" of sexual assault, but the story is linked in my post above.Russell Gym said:BaylorOkie said:Hold the phone. Is there more info on this? Guilty of sexual assault, and still on the team?LBKBEAR said:

Is this actually true?

I suspect that if our Title IX office finds athletes "responsible" for sexual assault, they will be shown the door. As they should be.

Interesting that not one mention of this on the ESPN website. If this were Baylor, it would be blasted across the tv & reporters with pitchforks staked out on campus.
Right. I mean, what's the point of a Title IX office, if not?D. C. Bear said:Russell Gym said:

I would hope so.
Yes it is true. The 13th Grade Title 9 Department found him guilty of sexual assault and he was kicked out of school for the spring and summer semesters and then he came right back to play. He played a little bit last year.Russell Gym said:BaylorOkie said:Hold the phone. Is there more info on this? Guilty of sexual assault, and still on the team?LBKBEAR said:

Tech's Title IX found him responsible, no charges filed by state. He was suspended for a while.
TTech isn't an openly Christian based private school that kept entitled blue bloods from winning a couple of conference championships in recent years.Bruiser85 said:

Hell our Title IX office finds players NOT responsible AND Baylor still shows them the door.Russell Gym said:

They will let them play. If I had a dollar for every student that should have been arrested for something at a party in college, I would have been able to buyout Bennett 100x over.bunation said:
Stupid post...
If it's not Baylor, it's irrelevant drivel.
Move on. Nothing to see here. Let the kids play.
I think the 'bright' comment can extend to everyone mentioned in your post. Except the dogs, they are bright.xiledinok said:
Lubbock PD turning dogs on students. Don't think you have to be that bright to join LPD.
The cops probably worsened things when they arrived.
No, the key question is who appointed the DMN arbiter of what constitutes "the proper messages."boognish_bear said:
So Jett Duffey is found responsible for sexual assault by the TT Title 9 dept... then on top of that gets arrested for destruction of property.
Then gets suspended for a week and right back on the team. No way BU would get away with that.
Action: Coach Kliff Kingsbury reinstated quarterback Jett Duffey, receiver Quan Shorts, defensive back Desmon Smith and linebacker Christian Taylor after misdemeanor arrests outside a Lubbock night spot on March 25.
Reaction: That was a quick suspension, barely more than week and a little more two weeks before the April 14 spring game. Kingsbury told reporters Tuesday that he had spoken with the Tech administration and Lubbock police before making the decision. Yes, reports indicated the players had gone through some grueling workouts as punishment. Yes, it looked like a college night out that escalated quickly. Yes, all four figure to play important roles with Duffey a possible successor to Nic Shimonek. Yes, no one was expecting missed game time let alone a suspension. The key question is if lessons have been learned and the proper messages sent.
Brenda Tracy and ESPN would have been all over this and tweeting non stop about it, send reporters to do an "investigative" story, and then written a book about it.... again...boognish_bear said:
