Jett Duffey is their starting quarterback. Tech's Title IX department found him guilty of raping a girl. It seems like missing a spring semester and a summer semester for raping a girl didn't teach him a lot.

Tech's Title IX found him responsible, no charges filed by state. He was suspended for a while.

Thanks for the link, DC. "Responsible" by the Title IX office vs. "Guilty" by a court of law. The former gets you a one year suspension. Interesting.
Interesting that not one mention of this on the ESPN website. If this were Baylor, it would be blasted across the tv & reporters with pitchforks staked out on campus.
I suspect that if our Title IX office finds athletes "responsible" for sexual assault, they will be shown the door. As they should be.

Interesting in the article that Duffey says "he can't imagine himself doing that" rather than just saying "I never did that."

Four Texas Tech football players, including potential starting QB Jett Duffey, were arrested early Sunday morning, according to Lubbock County Sheriff's Office records found online.
The arrests were first reported by InsideTheRedRaiders.com's Jarrett Johnson.

The players were all booked into the Lubbock County Jail, according to online records.
Lubbock Police released the following summary of events leading up to the arrest of the players.
Officers were dispatched to Bash Riprocks Nightclub (2419 Main Street) at 1:54 a.m., following reports of a disturbance where a suspect was possibly armed.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers located a large group of people in front of the nightclub who were impeding traffic.
After attempting to locate [the] armed suspect, an officer observed an individual intentionally cause damage to a vehicle by smashing the windshield. When officers tried to arrest the suspect, the crowd became aggressive toward the responding officers.
In all, 10 suspects were arrested, eight for disorderly conduct, and two for Criminal Mischief. One of the arrestees (20-year-old) Desmon Smith Williams was taken to UMC for a dog bite from one of the responding K-9 units. He was treated, released, and later booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center. No officers were injured in the incident.
Taylor smashed a car windshield in front of one of the responding officers and Jett Duffey damaged property at ULOFTS in front of officers while we were trying to disperse the crowd.
Duffey was booked at 4:15 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief.
Three other players --CB Desmon Smith, safety Christian Taylor and WR Quan Shorts -- were also arrested on Sunday morning.
Taylor is the only other player with a charge listed (criminal mischief), but all three were booked early Sunday morning. Taylor was booked at 4:48 am, Shorts was booked at 5:08 a.m. and Smith was booked at 8:07 a.m., according to online records.
Texas Tech had an open scrimmage in Midland on Saturday.
Duffey, a Mansfield Lake Ridge graduate and the 2015 SportsDayHS Offensive Player of the Year, has been competing with McLane Carter for the Texas Tech starting QB job. After redshirting his first season in Lubbock, Duffey was suspended by Texas Tech for the spring and summer of 2017 after a Title IX hearing panel sided with a woman who alleged that Duffey had sex with when she was too incapacitated to consent. A grand jury ultimately decided there was not enough cause to criminally prosecute the case.

Yes it is true. The 13th Grade Title 9 Department found him guilty of sexual assault and he was kicked out of school for the spring and summer semesters and then he came right back to play. True story. Had a conversation with a customer of mine last week who is a tech graduate. He expressed hope that once "Coach Pretty Boy" is fired that tech would give Art Briles a call. I asked if he was serious and worried there might be media hysteria. He said, "tech people don't give a **** about the media or rape. Hell, a football player could be raping someone on the 50-hardline and they would put it up on the big screen. The fans would be cheering or critiquing his technique."

How does a school even keep somebody that Title IX deemed a rapist on campus? Almost as crazy is how does a school not have a zero tolerance policy for that rapist?
