We all know this has gone on at many places besides BU and MSU. Had BU not been the first of which attention was focused, our idiot BOR and their apperently deft PR firm might have had some past experiences on which to base a more reasonable and fair process to all involved. Baylor, however was out there on a limb by themselves. People are just now seeing and having to admit a tree has more than one limb.GruntTuff said:
This is, on the one hand, hilarious, and on the other hand, sad and depressing.
This guy ran an outlaw program and hangs around to collect a $4.3 million retention bonus, then "steps aside to spend more time with family"....and STILL is going to be employed by the university??????
And....it will get buried and no one will care. Michigan State basically skates.
This would be like Baylor paying Briles a retention bonus, and then letting him hang around.
MSU skates while Baylor is the poster child for sexual assault.
Our BOR really handled its crisis beautifully, right?
What a joke.
Starr has been embarrassing Baylor since he left.blackie said:We all know this has gone on at many places besides BU and MSU. Combined with the gymnastics situation, MSU should now be the poster child. Anyone want to bet that will happen? Of course not.....regardless of what happens Baylor will continue to be the poster child. Heck, even during the impeachment trial whenever Starr was speaking the TV would show " highligts " of his career. Baylor was shown prominently. The story will always be that Baylor led the way and no one is worse than Baylor.
Fortunately, outside of any NCAA sanction arising from it, it can certainly be argued we are now in a much better place. And if the NCAA wants to hammer BU, they betters have a box of nails ready for the blue bloods of the world. Anything less is the most blatant example of hypocrisy you may ever see.
National media would have continued to keep kicking this can down the road except they now figured out a way to finally separate Izzo from it. He is the one they have tried to protect, not Dantonio. They would have sacrificed Dantonio in a heartbeat. He's not well liked by most media, particularly in Michigan.boognish_bear said:
MSU has been kicking this can down the road for four or five years while national media continued to not make a story of it..... Guess it finally got to the point they could not kick it another inch

Texas Monthly needs to get up there and do some reporting.
Why? UT doesn't recruit against MSU like they do against us.jdrs said:

Sugar Bowl trumps Russell Jock Strap Bowl all day long for a parting gift. We are still collecting on Art's gift - NCAA announcement.PartyBear said:
Even in Dantonio's forced retirement, he gave MSU a classier farewell than Rhule did Baylor.
