OK, I should have done this yesterday but forgot until too late. Besides, there is still a chance that the Ole Miss game in Houston will be postponed. So far as I know, nothing official has been announced. Anyways, here we go:

Baylor's 2020 football season is 100 days away

Lynx Hawthorne 100 yd TD kickoff return, penalty, Baylor v NW State 2014:

Gibson 100 yd kickoff return for TD, Baylor v WVU 2015:

It bothers me that the only 100 yard TD play in McLane Stadium history was by the opposing team. But I'll just have to learn to live with it and at least we still won that game handily. I won't get started on the biggest yardage plays in the Stadium's history (Baylor has only a couple over 90 yards, other teams have as many or more--and for more points).

These videos remind me how lucky we were to have RG III and Bryce Petty as our QBs. Those guys were winners, and remain the only QBs to beat OU and UT in the same season.
And Petty did it two years in a row!!!

They are also the only QBs to beat OU ever! But it will happen again and I hope Charlie does it this year.

Will Charlie play?
I was thinking that after all of his concussions he may want to re-think another season of college football.
Just my opinion.

There has been lots of talk about that. But I expect he will play. It's clear he does not want to miss his senior year (who can blame him?) and I don't see the coaches or medical personnel keeping him on the sideline. I think he will be even better than last year. If the O-line can do a better job of protecting him, then he should be OK.

He (somehow) needs to be coached to get rid of the ball if there's nothing downfield.
I think (my opinion only) that he holds the ball too long trying to make something happen, and then gets nailed. Hard.
Last season was difficult for me to watch with him suffering those late-season concussions.
The Bears are obviously a different team with him at QB, but I'm not willing to scramble a young man's brains just so I can get some football satisfaction.

I've heard that analysis too. There probably is something to it. I wonder how many times the coaches tried to get Charlie to throw the ball away. He does not do that often.

Last year, he had several rushing TD's--often by running over defenders (& occasionally for first downs). I enjoyed the way he celebrated those TDs and he seemed OK each time, but I sometimes also wonder about the wear & tear on his body.

We all would love to see him have a banner year and for Baylor to win lots of games but I think we all agree with you: it's not worth Charlie having permanent health issues.

Historian, do you have the first TD pass Bryce Petty threw in the 4th quarter against TCU in 2014?

That game takes on new importance for me now.
My brother and I were there, and watched that entire comeback. Now that he has suddenly passed away I have good memories of that day.

We sat in the end zone and saw every score in the 4th quarter, right in front of us!
Great day, good memories.
