The city is also pushing for the name change. If Snyder is forced to change the name, he won't just change the mascot, he will move out of DC. Why stay in a town where the leadership doesn't support the team? Oklahoma is ready for a pro team and Norman has one of the largest stadiums in the country. They would be called the Norman Oklahomans.
How about Memphis. Take the old Baseball Minor League name, The Memphis Blues.

One news article mentioned Red Tails in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen. The logo would be a P-51 Red Tail. Sounds pretty dang cool.
