I grew up in the Chicago suburbs so I was well aware of Gayle Sayers. He was a bit before my time so I was a Walter Payton guy. I mainly remember him from local commercials. Although, I remember the older dudes telling me Payton "couldn't hold Sayers jock strap"
If you look at his old tapes that may have been true especially considering his KO & punt returning.

Would be a nice tribute for Baylor to pay tribute during this week's Kansas game. Maybe by painting the 40's on the field. (Though Sayers wore #48 at KU)

That would be great if they did a tribute. I had a chance to meet him as a youth - incredible experience. His relationship with Brian Piccolo was really telling of the type of human being he was. Great role model. He will be missed.

Not gonna lie, it made me cry. There has been a lot of talk about the best "sports" movie. Rudy, Hoosiers, Field of dreams etc. for my money Brian's song is the best.

I didn't, but our family dog urgently needed to go outside right at the end of that movie, so I volunteered to take him out. I also remember that there was a ton of pollen in the air that night, and my hay fever went off the charts for a few minutes!
