Just put the SWC back together. Replace Texas with Texas State, Texas A&M with A&M Commerce and Arkansas with Arkansas State. Boom done and the bowl games will be awesome

The Big 12.

The Forgotten 8 will rebuild and rebrand because it's the best of all undesirable options at this point.
Maybe so.

But who is going to make up for all the lost TV revenue ?
No one. That money's gone after 2025 and there's nothing any of these teams can do to bring it back.

At this point, you're working to build a stable league that can compete at a national level and make you more money than the American, which is the most likely alternative for all of the Forgotten 8.
Won't be enough money with either option .

End game is the same .
Enough to do what?

And what end game is that?

All of these leftovers will need places to play and they're not just going to give up their football/athletic programs. In the absence of P5 money, they'll all have to settle for the next best thing.

Enough to do what?
Maintain giant stadiums. Maintain bloated athletic back offices. Maintain bloated coaching and administrative payrolls. Etc.

So you mean they'll actually have to get creative and improve the efficiency of their operations? That's impossible.

Cincinnati, UCF, Houston, BYU, Boise State, San Diego State, Memphis, etc., etc., all say, 'Hi.'

Exactly. Btw Cincy manages to pay Luke Fickel about 3.4 million a year and have managed to fight off P5s wanting him thus far. Now they are a state school about the size of UT with an endowment 2-3x the size of some of of the SEC schools like Ole Miss and Miss St. So they are G5 with more in common with P5 but so would be Baylor, Tech and OSU.

And they're not alone. Memphis just renovated its stadium, while Houston built a brand new one. You can run a successful athletic program on lesser budgets. You just have to trim the fat and be efficient.

Cincinnati's stadium is almost an art piece. It's really well done and state of the art.

And also there are those on here that have been trolling Baylor boards for a long time with snide remarks and head pats. So they will also predict the most dire of outcomes for us.

Gotta shed the number, though. It's too easy to make fun of how the Big 12 only had 10 teams.

Keep the Big but add something else. Maybe the Big Kahuna Conference?

Big is a freakin joke now, for more reasons than one, get rid of Big, Yes, I'm all for changing the name.

Joel Klatt has been the voice of reason all along.

That's a good dude.
This site leaks private information to Baylor Regents and Administration

Baylor because of football and basketball is a top 20 school athleticly. Just based on football we are some where between 16 to 27. Its because of location and facilities and our record since 2010 in football/basketball. Texas population is 29 million and BU on I35 corridor San Antonio to DFW is experiencing a boom and Waco right in the middle of it. Also Fixer upper with Chip and Johanna. Baylor will be fine.
Those 29 million eyes are glued on something other than BU. We probably got a great proportion for the basketball playoffs but we do not appeal to that many eyeballs unless you are from the Waco area or a grad.
Therein lies our problem.

Look at how outnumbered we are at neutral sites (TT in Arlington). Even TCU outranks us simply because Fort Worth is larger.
Therein lies BU's problem and it's been the case forever. 2021 Men's NC Basketball game ranked about eighth all time I think. For Baylor Women's Basketball I think the 2005 game was the lowest viewed and I'm not sure, but BU vs ND was a high viewed game... probably because of ND.

Face it, we just have a lot of cards stacked against BU other than recent win-loss history. No one cares about BU other than BU people.

That's true of most schools. And it wasn't a problem until ESPN decided it was about 20 years ago.

Sadly, they've since convinced a bunch of fans and university presidents that it is. And that TV revenue is more important than all of the myriad things that made college football special to begin with ... allowing them to slowly chip away at each to the detriment of all but their highest earners.
