Because the Forgotten 8 won't find a better payout than the one they're guaranteed through the remainder of this GoR deal. It's simple math.

And if the Big 12 works to bolster the league over that time, it will be a better conference come 2026 than the alternative for the league's remaining teams, which is likely the AAC.

As I've said from the start, it is in the Forgotten 8's best interest to stand together, squeeze every penny possible out of UT, OU and ESPN for the next four years, add four quality G5 programs and rebrand around its still formidable on-field product. Create a viable league out of the ashes and rubble that UT and OU left.
