Are we cursed? I was excited when Drew signed both Bodo Bodo and Powell because I thought we were finally back to at least 2 decent bigs, particularly as small as we were last year and no bigs beyond Norchad and Josh. Then, I became overjoyed when we signed Soyoye because I thought finally -- we even have a 3rd big in case of any injuries!

Now, here we are at the start of the season and we apparently only have 1 big that's healthy and he's a backup. Soyoye is not listed as one of the backups by Ashley so I assume that means he's still injured too? Sheesh. Will it ever end?

Short answer, yes.

IMO we were very clearly the best team in 2022 and would have repeated pretty cleanly. But 3 season ending injuries later and two key guys playing 50% and the rest is history.

Just the combination of completely improbable type injuries is unique to this program recently. Love and Cryer alone was the strangest combo of lingering freak injuries I've ever seen.. now this strange Bodo situation.

Was about to say the same thing. Even though Washington is shooting 50%, we've had hands in the face on most shots. Most importantly, we don't seem to be struggling as much with rotations and switches as in prior years. Sanchez may end up being worth his weight in gold by the middle of the season.

Drew said the reason he isn't relates to the fact he's provided more energy than almost anyone and he wanted him to be the first off the bench.

The beauty of this team is that there seem to be a lot of guys who can score so if one or two can't score that night, others can hopefully take up some slack. I didn't feel that way with last year's crew.

I think this team is going to be really fun to watch. The thing I like about it is we're not super dependent on any one player. And we have enough depth at the wing that we can sit Yessefou down when he's not playing within himself and under control.
