That much, eh? I would think after taxes and real estate (unless he lives in a cardboard box) $5 mil in TN would be equivalent to $1M in CA.

The Haller negotiations have fallen apart. UCLA would not provide a full-time translator fluent in Texan.

I don't think this was ever really about Barnes leaving. This was about getting a raise.

This was the right time to do it, because he'll probably never be in a stronger position. He just took a Tennessee team to No. 1 for only the second time in program history. He's losing the heart of his team (Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield and Jordan Bone). They won't be as good next year. And Tennessee is probably going to throw a lot of money at hiring a women's BB coach who they hope can get them back into the Final Four conversation every year. If you're Rick Barnes, this was the year to get more money.

I'm surprised he left Cincy. As you mentioned its his alma mater. He has been there about along as Drew has been here. They stood by him and gave him leave when he had cancer. I believe he missed a season a few years ago.

Steve Alford is horrible.
