POST-GAME QUOTES TCU head coach Raegan Pebley
Opening Statement
"You know this has been a tough place for us to play. I think it is a tough place for everyone to play, because (West Virginia coach) Mike (Carey) does such a great job with his team and the atmosphere here is really good. But I think the way we opened the game was really important. It gave us a great shot and built our confidence. I think we had a little let up in the third quarter, but I was proud about how we regained our composure, and we were able to stop their run. (redshirt senior guard) Tynice Martin and (senior guard) Lucky Rudd, they definitely got a really special group, (redshirt freshman center) Rochelle Norris as well, in that senior class. What Tynice has done in this league is to be commended, and I know we'll all get a chance to get her to watch her play at that next level."

On the gratification of finishing second in the Big 12 after being the preseason rank of No. 8
"Well honestly, and I know this is kind of coach speak, but we didn't talk about preseason. We never, ever, ever talk about it. What is most important to us is definitely letting our work do the talking. Our work, and our chemistry, and our culture dictate what kind of season that we will have. I felt like this team just really locked in on each other all season, and we've tried to constantly turn down noise, turn down distractions, never find a complacency and I think that helped us a lot along the way."

On junior guard Lauren Heard being in the Big 12 player of the year conversation
"Well, I think there are so many great players in the Big 12, so to be in discussion of that means that you're one of the top players in the country, and I think what you guys get to see, the stats and the performance and Lauren's ability in the offensive end. But she's one of the best two-way players in our league, on both ends of the floor what she does and how she impacts the game. Honestly, she's one of the best leaders. She's got great leaders around her. She holds herself to a really high standard, which is great leadership, and she makes my job as her head coach really, really easy."

"Iowa State guard Ashley Joens earned Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, while Ayoka Lee claimed a record 12th Freshman of the Week accolade.

Joens tallied Iowa State's last three points down the stretch and ended Baylor's 58-game regular-season Big 12 win streak with a bucket and free-throw make. Her final bucket of the game marked her 1,000th career point, as she became the first sophomore in ISU history to reach the milestone. Joens averaged 12.5 points and 14.0 rebounds in victories against Kansas and Baylor. In the win over KU, she netted a career-tying 20 rebounds and 10 points.

Lee averaged 15.0 points on a .524 field goal percentage and a .889 free throw percentage, while pulling in 13.0 rebounds and blocking 3.0 shots in wins over Oklahoma State and Kansas. At OSU, the freshman secured the school record for double-doubles in a season with her 18th as she notched 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in 36 minutes. In the regular season finale against Kansas, Lee boosted her double-double record to 19, as she tallied 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 from the free throw line and pulling in 14 rebounds."

I drive to Florida several times a year. I believe this college is about 20 miles from Chipley. One of my family members is a big KFC fan and we always have to Exit 120 on IH-10 for the fried chicken buffet

Yes Chipola College is on north side of Marianna and east of Chipley about 20 miles or so

Lots of talent in these Florida JUCOs. I know a guy that helps with Northwest Florida College where state tournament was couple weeks ago. If I'm not mistaken he said Florida JUCOs only have to have one local player and the rest can be anywhere from US and 1 international. Is that right? He said that's that advantage Florida has in winning last 5 Women's NCs.

In women's Final NW Florida beat Gulf Coast 57-56 in OT w basket w 2 seconds left. Gulf Coast had won last 2 or 3 NCs

Freak female athletes in that tournament and I watch Baylor women a lot

Mississippi State assistant coach Elena Lovato is an amazing recruiter. She has state of Texas basketball roots and is a former DII head coach at UArkansas Fort Smith.

She was named NJCAA Division I Coach of the Year after her 2013-14 squad went 36-1 and claimed a second-straight national title. She led Trinity Valley Community College in Athens TX to the pair of national titles in her second stint at the school.

If she leaves MSU for Texas - WHEW !
