Good for her. I watched recent years in WNBA. Solid player even if not a superstar.

COURTNEY PARIS
Salary announcement

"OU Board of Regents will decide the salary of newly hired Oklahoma women's basketball assistant coach Courtney Paris. . The agenda, released Wednesday, says the regents will decide upon an annual salary of $110,000.

Head coach Sherri Coale hired Paris, Coale's former star center, on May 13 after the departure of former assistant coach Coquese Washington.

In Paris' time with OU, she accumulated 2,729 points and 2,034 rebounds, a program record that still stands. Paris was the No. 7 pick of the WNBA, and retired from a decade-long professional basketball career this year."

I had several conversations with her when she was a WNBA Dallas Wings player. She was very personable and warm in talking with the fans. It was interesting to talk to her about Oklahoma and the Big 12 conference. I send her the best wishes in her new coaching career!

With Coach Vic's emphasis on D, I wonder if there was something lacking on that side of the court for her.

2020 WNBA
Joyner Holmes

"After signing last week to play basketball in Israel for Maccabi Raanana, former Texas forward Joyner Holmes has also gotten a second chance in the WNBA.

The New York Liberty announced on Friday that Holmes had signed with the WNBA franchise. Holmes was originally taken by Seattle in the second round of April's draft. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, she never practiced with the team and was waived ahead of the league's deadline to finalize rosters in late May.

The signing of Holmes comes one day after New York guard Rebecca Allen said that she would not play this season. Allen cited uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic as a reason why she was opting out.

Including Holmes, New York team now has 7 rookies on its 12-player roster
Sabrina Ionescu. Megan Walker, Jazmine Jones, Kylee Shook, Leaonna Odom & Jocelyn Willoughby.

The 6-3 Holmes set a school record this winter when she recorded a double-double in seven straight games. Over her four years at Texas, Holmes averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game."

2020 WNBA
Te'a Cooper

"The Los Angeles Sparks have signed rookie guard Te'a Cooper, the team announced Sunday. Cooper likely fills the roster spot opened after guard Kristi Toliver opted out of the 2020 WNBA season for health reasons.

Cooper played for three top-tier programs in college, starting at Tennessee before transferring to South Carolina and then playing at Baylor last season as a graduate transfer, where she averaged 13.6 points and 4.3 assists per game for the 28-2 Bears.

"Te'a proved at Baylor that she can both facilitate effectively as a point guard and is also one of the better 3-point shooters entering the WNBA as a rookie," Sparks coach Derek Fisher said in a statement. "She'll be able to provide us depth at both guard positions and we're excited to work with her."

The District 4-6A MVP averaged 14 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 3.4 steals while shooting 46% from the field.

She led Martin to a 35-5 record and spot in the Class 6A Region I semifinals. Martin reached a regional tournament for the first time in program history."

I'm looking at UT women's basketball differently now without Aston

If this staff can't overcome the consistent underachieving that's been happened with practically all UT athletics during the last decade then nobody can, and then I'll then abandon any hope of a great coach rescuing UT from itself

Admittedly they made a great hire here

They did make a great hire. I thought it was puzzling when they hired Aston, but Vic is a really good coach.

OU is going to have to do something.

Aston checked all those Austin mentality boxes

Perhaps they've decided to try it the old dependable way since it hasn't been working, idk

We'll soon see how UT athletes respond
