That was pretty bad. They shot 50% from 3 and almost that well overall. It appears defense is not going to be played so we better be great shooting the ball.

You missed it entirely. I was replying to the comment about a 20 pt win and I think that is less likely a blowout but I do think we will win. I think the KS beatdown was a bit of a wake up call for them and I think Az will play much better than that game. Not sure what you seem so upset about. I did not make any comment about us being unfocused. They are a talented team, it is not a sure thing we win. I just think it is our time to put it together and win.
My take on the Arizona game - I see 5 factors that will influence the outcome of the game
1. Arizona full court pressure
2. Baylor on ball pressure defense
3. Officials
4. Fouls
5. Darianna
5. Blackman
We are a bad match up for Arizona - Arizona has athletes that play basketball - Baylor has basketball players that are athletes - Advantage Baylor.
1. Arizona Press cannot match our speed and quickness - Every team this year that tried to press Baylor got out of it by the second quarter or resorted to a token half court effort more to slow us down then create turnovers from pressure. Sarah, Jaden and Jana have the handles to break a press by themselves. However our recent play has shown a lack of ball security on our passes especially the long ones - this team has gotten away with a multitude of really bad passes that were almost picked off by defenses with less ability then Arizona - Our 3 main ball handling guards have a bad habit of trying to thread the needle with a pass into a double team in the paint - Our passes are not crisp - too many softball passes or floating lobs that invite a pickoff and Arizona will turn those into layups - Advantage Arizona. I know Nicki and Tony made this a point of emphasis in practice. If we get our lax passing fixed - Advantage Neutral.
2. Arizona has never faced a team this season that can put 4 -5 smothering on ball defenders on the court. Arizona starting five is basically all transfers some of whom we are very familiar with from Big 12 play. Arizona will have a difficult time with our on ball defense, - Advantage Baylor.
3. I have not heard who will officiate the game usually with these types of Conference Challenges the officials come from a "neutral" Conference. Why is this important ? Different Conference officials call the game differently. What is a charge by a Big 12 official may be a foul by another Conference official. Since both teams will have to adapt to the way the game is being called - Advantage Neutral.
4. Caitlin must stay on the floor. Her presence in the middle of the floor to break the press is CRITICAL !! She cannot pickup 2 early fouls and sit until the second half. I do expect Arizona to go right at her on offense. If Caitlin plays smart - Advantage Baylor. If Caitlin charges out of control at the rim like she has gotten away with at times this year and some of her drawn charges calls have been questionable to me and she picks up two early fouls - Advantage Arizona.
5. It's going to be interesting to see how Darianna reacts to being game planned for. So far, she has not been the focus of an opposing team's defense like Arizona will most likely make her. Problem for Arizona with that tactic - it leaves Blackman free to roam and rebound and putbacks. If Arizona focuses on Blackman then Darianna is free to roam. That also leaves an open Baylor player most likely a 3 ball shooter. Not a good position for Arizona to be in.- Advantage Baylor
5. Arizona has NO answer for Blackman !! If she plays 20 minutes and puts up a double points, double rebounds - Advantage Baylor.
PREDICTION: I expect a good game from both teams with Baylor holding Arizona to 50-60 points and Baylor scoring 60-70 points.

Advantage Arizona 75-54. They have a good team, not great. How good is Baylor, let's see the Polls Tuesday.

Where else but Baylor. Already blaming the refs and the game hasn't even started.

What is the point of posting?

The purpose is to get chronic complainers like YOU to stop blaming outside forces for every circumstance. But, as is evident from all your posts, you don't have the mental capacity for that to sink in despite your age so I digress.............

I think I have a pretty good reputation on this board for both being honest, fair, and objective.

Can you provide specific examples of my chronic complaints? My only complaint in this thread was the quality of the officiating in the UT-USC game, which I thought was justified. I thought the officiating in the Baylor - AZ game was quite good.

I guess my mental capacity is beyond understanding what you have against someone stating their opinion on a topic that is generally accepted on this board (overall quality of officiating in the women's game vs the men's game).

Perhaps I should just quit posting. For the real friends that I seem to have on the board, although I know none of them by name, I can just PM them.

So, guys, I guess I am out. Hope this doesn't turn into another R&P board where any opinion outside of the accepted by the echo chamber is dismissed out of hand.

One thing I have maintained in all the years of posting is that I have never attacked or degraded the worth of the poster themselves.

BTW, I hope you and others "make it" to my age.

We were promised a new offense and we got it! From what I saw today, fundamental basketball has gone to pasture with this team. Dribbling, passing and defense are abysmal. We are riding the coat tails of our 20 year dynasty and nothing else.

Where's AP to tell us all about how great our new system is?

I think AZ was taller than us but we out rebounded them. Too many turn overs in all three losses AZ was prepared for our offense. I think we can beat anybody if we shoot the 3ball at a better percentage. FREE throw shooting seems better than past few years. . Sic em !!

Oh he's over on the premium side laying it heavy on all the skeptical doubters. And I was quite shocked tonight to see quite a few regulars questioning the direction this program is headed. All that sales pitch about a new modern high octane wnba style offense that would be faster, quicker and far more productive hasn't really showed it's face yet. Not even with the 3 super stars that were here last year that went in the first and second round of the draft. Bella & Buggs & Abraham are good players but so was Sims & Young & Griner & Cox & Brown & Landrum & Smith & Egbo & Blackman & Wallace etc etc etc. Defense and passing skills really show up when the competition ramps up.. It's not so noticeable when playing cupcakes.

Wow… I thought we had turned a corner. I guess not. Bad shooting and defense tonight…
my feelings too. We play sloppy and really struggle with shooting when we face good competition. I remain encouraged by the talent of the freshman but adjusting expectations for this year.

Unfortunately when 2 starters cannot play (one being your best player) expectations have to change, regardless of the coach .

Was at the game...it was ugly. FG & 3PT %'s were terrible. AZ was taller than BU at almost every position - that was evident. The offense looked confused...like a pickup game - no plan. And I hardly witnessed any defensive stops. Also odd that the bench contributed very little (hardly in the game).

Fan expectation is a great thing to behold...it was going to take a long time and a lot of bumps but we need to give CNC a chance at least 3 -4 full years....were replacing a HOF coach after all.

I don't think this was the case....

I get that Kim was a tyrant, disruptive and not a team player. But the reason behind this was cost cutting..I am finally convinced. Otherwise you find a way to make it work with a 3 time NC..HOF coach.

We just decided that women's basketball had no ROI compared to what we were spending and that made Kim expendable. I'd love to see the budget comparison if those numbers are available somewhere. I'd also like to know how much we are saving by hiring Nikki.

At first I just couldn't wrap my head around the why. Now it is perfectly clear. Winning in women's basketball brings nothing to the table monetarily.

You have no idea what you're talking about...and certainly no idea of Baylors finances if you think this was about cost cutting.

The story of why she left has been discussed ad nauseum..from Mack's point of view..and Kim's point of view.

Yes, I was acquainted with her first husband, Mike Davis, thru a friend back when she coached at Navarro. Senior moment… I forgot her name Bowers when posting.

Also this year, 2 of our starters (one being our best player) have barely seen the court. I do not know of any team (even South Carolina) that would not see an affect if they lost their best player and another starter. If Dree and/or Aijah are out for a long time this season, expectations for this season have to be lowered.

100% people are being unreasonable.

I give credit to Coach Collens for having some tough games and taking her licks while developing a lot of young players and different core from last team. Contrary to the former coach, running the score up against teams on par with my local YMCA team and by far the worst P5 schedule in the last 20 years. Thankfully thats not us.
