Kim is in serious trouble and is having real PR problems not supporting BG being in a Russia prison. It is high time we support her. Retire her number.

Seems like something you do when she's home. You would obviously want her to be apart of the ceremony. Good chance they retire 42 when she's home and can attend

Bingo. You welcome her back with open arms, retire her number, and make sure she gets the biggest standing ovation in the history of whatever arena we're playing in at that point.

Yeah, if we did it now, it would be mere symbolic show of support that benefits Baylor more than it does Britney. We need to wait until we can have her here and do it properly.

Sounds like Nicki has things planned to honor her this season from her statement yesterday.

We can do something that shows support and solidarity now (can the players have something small on their jerseys like a "BG", or does that go against NCAA protocol?), and when she finally gets home, we can have a huge number retirement.

Let me preface my comments below by urging that we put BG in the Baylor Hall of Fame and that when it comes time to honor BG's national championship team, we should roll out the red carpet for both BG and yes, KM as well. Both played a monumental part in placing WBB on the national map!

The change in sentiments by Baylor fans toward BG and KM since their departures from Baylor has been at a minimum a tumultuous roller coaster ride.

BG graduated in 2013 right? At that time, she and KM were treasured icons in Baylor WBB history. Soon thereafter, BG upset many Bear fans by several actions on her part, which don't need to be rehashed here, and as a result, she was considered non-gratis by many BU supporters. She and KM appeared estranged, and BU supported KM. A most often used phrase by WBB fans, until KM's departure, was "In Kim We Trust."

This was the status quo for many years.

Fast forward to KM's departure, and many express sentiments that KM is now non-gratis at Baylor. So for over a year, both BG and KM were unwelcome by more than just a few.

Recently, BG gets arrested in Russia and the BU supporters seem somewhat split at first over whether to support BG or not (and I am in the camp that we should have and do support BG in mass).

But now, the pendulum seems to be swayed much further towards supporting BG and returning her to her original icon status, not because of anything BG did, but rather because of the perception that KM, who is now the perceived enemy, snubbed BG by not supporting her publicly (a lot of this discussion is on the premium forum). In essence, the current dislike for KM has perhaps caused fans to once again hold BG in high esteem.

Who would have ever thought a decade ago, that our fans dislike for KM, would be an impetus to welcome BG back into our fold and welcome her into the Hall of Fame.

I have rambled, but the irony in all this is interesting. Personally, I think we should appreciate and honor them both for their accomplishments at Baylor, but who knows where this fickle trail may lead. Perhaps there is a need to always have someone to be mad at?

Britney Griner is a flawed person who has made many mistakes.

Kim Mulkey is a flawed person who has made many mistakes.

They both deserve to be honored for their accomplishments at Baylor. They will join the ranks of hundreds of other Baylor honorees who were all flawed people who made many mistakes.

We are all "flawed"…. Lots of respect for Mulkey as a coach, but nice to have a new progressive coach who is pro LGBTQ and open..
