I am starting this topic because things have been so silent and inquiring minds want to know. Are we through ! Are we satisfied at center and plan to play small or we are just counting on Abraham? That injury was pretty bad. Just had to ask as I haven't heard of plans at center in a while

Pretty sure we are looking at at least two more and maybe more but I do not know any specifics on NIL this year. Nicki is always silent on recruiting, so I'm sure players will be announced, but doubt we hear anything about that until it happens or just before.

Thanks let me know if you hear anything

A lot of teams haven't had much movement recently. Portal closes in a few days. More movement across the board should happen soon. Also, it hasn't been as long as it seems. Last commitment was just 4 days ago

In today's college sports....NIL means $$$ athletes expect, nil refers to education they intend to receive.

I'd guess there's a lot more movement toward the end as players give up on their hopes of getting away with more than they are worth in NIL.

On the portal "closing". Is the "closing" just meaning that after that you can't put your self in the portal versus already being there and signing with someone. I was under the impression that signings would continue past that date, but that after that date no one could be added to the portal. I didn't think you had to be signed by that date.

Portal closes for people entering. But once all options are out there, you will see more movement happen. Right now, some teams are going to also play to see if more options come into the portal. On the other side of it, some players are going to hold out for what they think they are worth.

As the portal closes, both sides begin making decisions more.

It's the last day to enter the portal. Signings will happen for months to come. The only loophole after the portal closes is if a coach leaves/retires etc

NCAA regulations prohibit Schools and Coaches from commenting on High School players and players transferring from other schools. That's why Nicki doesn't say anything. The sanction would probably be no coaching or recruiting for a certain time or games. A second offense would bring more severe penalties,
Maybe no coaching for one year or more at any NCAA school. The Texas UIL has penalized a Coach for three years (Duncanville Womens Basketball Coach) for a first offense of recruiting.

Cheetah is referring to the lack of insiders even knowing what's happening. There's isn't really anyone who knows what's happening outside of the coaching staff which isn't the case at all lot of schools. More coaching staffs are moving this way though

That certainly looks true for wbb but not the case with the men. Drew and staff may not be saying anything but Sicem 365 sure seems to be in the know for who we are looking at where we don't seems hear anything until after the fact from wbb

It's well known that the sicem staff has inside info on MBB.

WBB chooses to keep it quiet. There's so much head hunting and sniping going on with teams that many WBB coaching staffs are going more toward similar ways Collen handles it.

But back to your original post…The staff isn't done yet. They are trying for a visa for an international post and it looks like still another guard. Will see where it lands in the end

There is no doubt they are looking for a post. But one has to be there to get that makes a difference and that will come. Novel realization....coaches (for any team or school, for that matter) know what their team lacks and needs far better than the brain trust found on internet boards. They also know what parameters are reality which determines the sandbox they are in where they are able to play.

Top players got their NIL pay day.

Currently at the "let the dust settle" point.
Who remains available? How much NIL $ remains available?

There are players who saw $400k to $500k deals and thought they would get $300k but are now waking up to learn that $200k is their high point and $150k is more likely. NBA roster economics.

To your point, Vonleh committed to us April 24 last year. This year seems to be even more wild with the valuations

Heard any other names in connection with us?

While the MBB portal closes next Tuesday, WBB portal doesn't close until Wednesday.

In both sports expect Baylor to roll slow to see which additional players enter. For example, Haggerty from Memphis entering the portal recently totally shook up the PG portal slotting in MBB. That item indirectly impacts Baylor MBB.

For Baylor WBB still shopping 2-3 more adds with a limited budget, knowing the market pricing for Target A impacts who might be financially workable at targets B & C.

That said, folks who should know think the Baylor fanbase will be pleasantly surprised with the possible adds in both MBB & WBB. They aren't dropping names or budget availability/constraints but apparently there is excitement for WBB that has resulted in additional NIL $. For MBB, Wright's defection might get a couple of mega donors PO'ed enough to bump their donation.

Thanks for the insight. I trust the needs will be met and am excited with this roster already. Collen has things headed in a good direction right now

Yes……..the improvement in size, athleticism and reliable 3 point shooting has been substantial.

If WBB can land a PG with size, D motor & athleticism [more a "defend the point" than "initiate O" type player] the roster really reaches another level. Another 5 finishes the job [don't need an elite player simply another rotation quality defender (5 more fouls to avoid having to go small when fouls pile up).

Another body or two down low definitely helps a ton. Kyla showed improvement late but I don't think she can be a 20-30 minute player right now.

And aggressive defensive style always leads to more fouls a couple times a year. Vonleh was smart and didn't get in trouble much, but Kyla being the main will lead to that more likely

Agree. The mindset for both MBB and WBB seems to be Deep Roster to survive conference and roll deep in the Tourney, couple of closers to win tight games. Buying elite players at every position is a mirage because it leads to lack of depth which ultimately leads to failure. The B12 is an Ultramarathon even if the number of conference games drops.
