As a result of a post by Bear57 in the 2019 transfers thread, I got interested in how many players there were on current rosters in the WNBA. I took my data from the current Wiki List of current WNBA team rosters, up to date as of this week. There are currently 12 teams with a roster of 12 players each, for a total of 144 active players.

Interestingly, the top 10 teams supply approximately 53 % of all the currently active players

1 UCONN: 17
2 North Carolina:12 (this is a typo - it should be 6)
3 Notre Dame:9
4 Duke:7
5 Tennessee:6
6 Maryland:6
7 Baylor:5
8 South Carolina:5
9 Louisville:5
10 Ohio State:5
11 - 12 Stanford:4
11 - 12 Rutgers:4
13 - 14 Cal:3
13 - 14 LSU:3
15 - 20 Texas:2
15 - 20 Oklahoma:2
16 - 21 Miss. St.:2
16 - 21 UCLA:2
16 - 21 Miami:2
16 - 21 Washington:2
20 - 30 Michigan State:1
20 - 30 USC:1
20 - 30 Oregon:1
20 - 30 Oregon State:1
20 - 30 Iowa State:1
20 - 30 West Virginia:1
20 - 30 Oklahoma State:1
20 - 30 Iowa:1
20 - 30 UT El Paso:1
20 - 30 Texas A&M:1

And I got tired at this point of trying to do the foreign players and other 1 player colleges and quit. I might have missed a school or two in my search but tried to be sure to get all of the ones that were of interest to us.

This list is only for the currently active players. Baylor is clearly a program on the rise. We will add Lauren Cox and Kristy Wallace (assuming she heals - she is still under contract to Atlanta) for sure next year and possibly Juicy Landrum and another if things go as I see them now -- assuming they have good years and no injuries.

In conclusion --- How many players in WNBA from Texas A&M ???
Answer = 1

You are correct. I was simply counting off the Wiki list and they left McCarty-Williams school as blank

You are correct. The Wiki roster is in error for the C position.
There may be other occasional errors as well in my data. I was not so enthralled as to have the energy to verify each entry.

I didn't "figure in transfers". I just used the school data that is posted on the Wiki. The school is the school that is listed on the WNBA rosters.

Just curious: Where are you getting 12 from North Carolina?

On the linked Wikipedia page I'm counting 5:
Breland
Kea [misspelled as "Key"]
Sanders
Ruffin-Pratt
Little

Are you including people like DeShields, who played at UNC but finished their college careers elsewhere?

This is embarrassing. "12 from North Carolina" is a typo that crept in and that I did't not correct before posting,. The correct number for North Carolina is. as you stated - 5 Thank you for calling it to my attention. That is a glaring error and I should have done a better job of checking my post before hitting send.
