Whether a player is drafted in the top 3 makes very little difference salary-wise. It is far more important to get drafted by the right team. The WNBA is not like the NBA or the NFL where you are taken in the draft makes a huge difference salary-wise. Basically, all rookies make the same. Generally, unless we are dealing with a Griner or Stewart, or there is a huge drop off in talent, teams generally will draft for need.
