Unfortunately, just an overall weak conference, although at least UT helped us by upsetting Stanford. We needed that UConn win badly since the conference isn't gonna give us a shot at a significant win over a Top 10 opponent.

Without even seeing WV, this surprises me because OK is not good. Must have hit all their 3 pointers.

Taylor Robertson (31 points) was 8-18 from behind the arc.

Without having seen the game it is almost unbelievable this could have happened.

But when you look at the box score, West Virginia's top two players, Tynice Martin and Kysra Gondrezik went a combined 4 of 25 from the field, and 0 for 8 from three. Meanwhile Taylor Robertson was making 8 of 18 3-pointers, and had 31 points. And just to top things off Oklahoma outrebounded them by 8. And all this at West Virginia.

Weird.

WV is either going to be very deflated or very pissed when they arrive in Waco this weekend. Should make for a very interesting game...

They will be in a different mood for sure. Carey has already set his foot down and declared "No more moonshine before games for the rest of the year".

Not certain if it matters if their pissed or not, to tell you the truth - our team is so good, I don't see us getting a serious challenge until the tournament in March.

Things happen - WV will have much better effort in Waco - Upsets can happen that's why you play the game instead of voting who the winner will be.

Please do not diminish what our ladies did last night. WV effort was much better then in the Texas game. Kim in her weekly interview said she did not like playing WV after a bad loss because Mike was going to have them focused and motivated. So you can bet the ranch a point of emphasis in this weeks practice was preparing for that. West Virginia did come out of the tunnel with much more intensity and focus but our ladies were waiting and attacked with more intensity and focus and just shut them down. WV got frustrated and started taking bad shots and getting beat on 50/50 balls. That's what defense played the BU way can do to opposing teams. The Lady Bears played a game last night that would win a National Championship Game against anyone. I do not think this was an aberration I expect to see this same effort many times this tear. Taking Lauren's shooting woes out of the equation this was the best game I have seen the Lady Bears play in the Kim Mulkey era. The bench basically matched WV total game points. Moon has found her stride and her growth (no pun intended) gives CKM 3 stellar perimeter defenders now - Now when Lauren gets her rhythm back can you imagine just how good this team will be ??? Bring on Oregon and South Carolina (if they get that far). Mike was right this is a better team then last year

Now that NaLyssa Smith has learned to defend at a level close to the other starters, eliminating the unproductive fouls that took her off the floor so often, we have no weakness in that defensive lineup. Ursin off the bench simply reinforces the intensity and aggressiveness of the defense, and Egbo, Bickle and the Olivers are not much of a drop off.

Other teams lose heart when they are hounded and harassed by a defense that is as effective as any I have seen in the women's game, and we have had some outstanding ones over the years and some of our opponents have had as well -- but not like this. It is stifling, and is spearheaded by arguably the two best defenders in the women's game, Richards and Cox.

Our defensive rebounding, sometimes less effective in the absence of Cox, has become a major part of our defensive excellence. Reducing the shooting percentage of opponents has long been a feature of the Lady Bear defensive strategy, but it is far less effective if they get second and third chances, as South Carolina did in the absence of Cox. We have addressed that issue with both team defense and team rebounding, and Egbo has become an inhaler of rebounds in her time on the floor, as she should. She is too explosive and athletic for smaller interior players and too quick for larger ones, but experience is the great leveler for most players and she is beginning to show the advantages that additional playing time usually brings to players with talent.

It is a pleasure to watch the defense and the accompanying transition game that it triggers when the Lady Bears are playing at their pace, and the bench players are gaining skill and strength every day that they practice against the older players ahead of them. That bodes well for the future.
