Honestly I don't know. It's less than a month before early signing period and we don't have any 2023's. The only recent official visits are from Lety and Tessa.

I do not see Nicki taking more than 1 or 2 recruits if that. After season, we will lose JaMee and Caitlyn and most think Aijah will go to WNBA. If none of remaining players leave, we will return 10 and Nicki has said she doesn't want a roster more than 13.

5 Seniors with 2 having 1 year left.

Bickle and Asberry are graduates and done after this season
Edwards a RsSR, might have a covid year
Owens and Blackwell have another year

I'd say at least 4 leave which would put the roster at 13 with 2 signees, a big and wing.

Brian, the present roster is 13. If 2 leave and add 2 then we are back to 13. So, I assume the 4 is a typo or we down to 11. I personally think that 3 leave.

Have heard from those that should know that the current expectation is adding 1-2 freshmen, 2-3 transfers.

The thought process is "supposedly" that the quality of proven players in the Transfer Portal justifies a roster that is 40% underclassmen, 60% upperclassmen. Get old, stay old. Annually, the top 2-3 transfer targets are likely far better than the 4th freshman that might be signed in most years [and more likely to contribute quickly rather than sitting and learning/developing].

In most years the goal is 3 freshmenโ€ฆโ€ฆbut the larger freshman class from last year limits the need this year. The 2023 recruiting class was projected as a good class years ago but the current reality is underwhelming.

2025, 2026, 2027 are all projected to have much deeper talent and thus saving rosters spots [or using scholarships on players who will graduate by that time] makes more sense. Basic roster management with a view to future vs. current talent inventory.

Projected BU WBB 2023 HS signees [might not both be in Fall]:

1 interior, 1 perimeter [best guess]

A full season of players & recruits [note the two categories] seeing the team play at the preferred style, pace, and schemes should open a ton of doors for transfers and recruits [2024 & forward].

Paraphrase: "it is hard to sell X when all of the game tape of the only season shows us playing Y". Inheriting the tiny roster is the crappy "gift" that keeps on giving.

Side Notes:

having a real roster size has/is/will pay huge dividends in offseason pickup games, skill work, practice habits/intensity, conditioning, attitude, etc.

the need to accommodate habits/attitudes has diminished by 1000%

singleminded focus has increased by 1000%

fans won't recognize the D, fans won't recognize the pace of play

May end up going to Missouri, she just went for her official. Missouri's WBB program is a sinking ship but the Cox's love the school and her sister plays volleyball there.

Dark here is NC St, who she did an under the radar visit.

I could see her going to either of those schools. I heard she also visited LSU but I will be surprised if she goes there. It just does not seem to be a good fit for her.
