Yep, Abbott is just another sleazy politician. I don't care if he gets primaried and wins, I will not, under any circumstance be casting my vote for Abbott - at all. Ever.

We need to vote against the Democrat and for the person who can beat the Democrat. If you vote for someone who can't beat the Democrat, you are supporting the Democrat. That's simply a fact.

Exactly. Hold your nose if you have to. A conservative throwing his or her vote away on a Libertarian is casting 1/2 of a vote for the dimcrat - in this case Beto. I don't care how much you hate Abbott - give me a break - the clear alternative is Beto And it's obvious Abbott is a better choice.

paul belew is a criminal defense attorney. He is a more moderate republican than Abbott. He supports creating revenue streams like gambling and thc sales to decrease property taxes but not elliminate them like Huffines.

Danny Harrison has similar stance to Paul as a moderate GOP canidate. Wants to increase state revenues in similar ways and decrease property taxes. Wants to remove jail time for lower level offenders/prison sentence reform.

Kandy Horn has similar stance to the other two but also has an emphasis on supporting school teachers/education reform/pay increase from THC sales

Property taxes are out of control, but I'm not in favor of reducing them and adding sonething else - they will just raise em back up as soon as they can (republican or democrat).

And with house values rising and inflation...making the problem way worse.

If I vote for a slimy ass politician just because I don't want a democrat to win, the all we end up with slimy ass politicians over and over and over.

The Republican party lost me about 15 years ago. I came back and voted for Trump, but sorry, the establishment Republicans that are in DC now, are do nothing, bend over take up the ass, POS politicians that talk a good game but don't do squat and certainly don't fight dems like they should. Hell, they had the perfect opportunity to ged rid of Obummercare. Hell, they were able to pass, what 60 something resolutions when they knew obama would never sign, but the second they we have a guy in the oval office that would actually sign it, they can't do a damn thing.

Sorry, but they don't deserve my vote. If Republicans want my vote, they need to stop putting up slimy ass politicians. I refuse to vote for party and instead vote for person.

And with house values rising and inflation...making the problem way worse.
Texas needs to legalize gambling, decriminalize marijuana, probably increase sales tax and reduce property taxes.

They also need to do away with non-profits not being required to pay property taxes. Big churches in Texas... they need to pay their fair share. Especially since some churches received stimulus money while not paying into the system. Take a wild guess how much Baylor has to pay in property taxes for all that real estate they own.

Also, a few years ago, Texans passed a law that some disabled vets don't have to pay property taxes. guess where they make that loss of money up? There are 4 people on my street that pay zero in property taxes. Got to make up for it somewhere. While we're all appreciative of those that served, the gov't should NEVER create a special class of citizens that don't have to pay their fair share. Yesterday it's disabled vets that don't need to pay, today it's their spouses, tomorrow it ill be cops, fireman, nurses, and teachers that won't need to pay their property taxes or at the very least, get a discount.

A friend of mine hurt his knee while playing football with some other guys. Because he zigged instead of zagged and it happened on base.... he get $700 per month because he's now x amount disabled. He'll get that money for the rest of his life. By the way, he walks fine. No crutches, no cane, no wheelchair, no nothing. So he gets his benefit AND he gets a discount on his property taxes.

My neighbor says that although PTSD is real, it's over diagnosed too. Some guys actually believe they have PTSD when they don't because they psychologists insist they have it. He says that psychologists love to diagnose PTSD. His words not mine.

Don't know for a fact, but I would imagine that if you're a vet with clinical diagnosis of PTSD, you get classified as disabled and receive benefits.

You should always vote for the person you believe will do the best job. Voting your conscience is practicing being the person you want to be, versus being the kind of person who just wants to win at politics.

If he's the only one who can beat the Democrat, then you will vote Democrat.
I will either vote libertarian or I will not not cast a vote for governor at all.

If a democrat wins, it doesn't mean that I voted for a democrat. It means the Republicans should've put up a better a candidate.

Sorry, if I don't like a candidate, then I will not vote for that candidate.

If you don't vote against the Democrat using the most likely to beat the evil, you are voting for evil.

This is why Abbott needs to go
Yep, Abbott is just another sleazy politician. I don't care if he gets primaried and wins, I will not, under any circumstance be casting my vote for Abbott - at all. Ever.

So you'd rather have the skateboard riding, dress wearing fake Mexican who lives off his wife's trust fund?
Nope. But not casting a vote for Abbott either. I'll be voting libertarian again.

We need to vote against the Democrat and for the person who can beat the Democrat. If you vote for someone who can't beat the Democrat, you are supporting the Democrat. That's simply a fact.

Vote for the status quo or a socialist. Which one screws our country up more?
Sorry man, not voting for Abbott.

I usually agree with your takes on political issues, but you're wrong on this one.

Just because I don't vote for someone doesn't mean I'm voting for the other person. It's exactly that thinking that has given us the POS establishment Republicans (and democrats) that have made a lifelong career out of fleecing the American people over decades and decades in office.

Sorry, but I will not vote a party over my principle
