...The Committee waited until its last scheduled hearing and just before the House is expected to flip to GOP control. It seems a case of planned obsolescence since there is little time or means to produce such testimony in the remaining time...

...The Committee will lacks remaining runway to get this off the ground if Trump proceeds with a court challenge. The delay undermines the credibility of the effort. From the first day, the J6 Committee said Trump was central to its investigation.

What does this mean? I do not think it is relevant. The White House was not stormed on Jan 6th.BornAgain said:
I remember hearing somewhere that speaker of the house is in charge of White House security.

I'm all for getting to the bottom of it. Article says the zealots injured 140 police officers.
I'm also not convinced it's not a witch hunt. Trump hurt democracy the whole 4 years he was President. From the little I know, not having paid much attention to his Jan 6 speech, it was just more of the same.
There is the slim chance he actually communicated with the proud boys via proxy, in which case I'm all for his imprisonment. If he was just spewing his normal garbage to his normal zealots, we need to move on.

This final hearing was the most effective in years. Taken together with the committee’s prior hearings, it left no doubt that Trump deliberately tried to steal the 2020 election & committed major federal crimes in the process:

Two bipartisan 9-0 votes against Donald J. Trump today, one 9-0 vote by SCOTUS, the other 9-0 by the Select Committee to Investigate the Insurrection. A bad day for Trump, a good day for the Rule of Law.

What Committee really drove home today is evidence of Trump's knowledge and even premeditation. centerpiece was his knowledge -- b/c advisers told him and told committee they told him -- that the talking points he continued to spout (suitcase, machines, etc) were false.

Turley, a noted Democrat constitutional lawyer, is indeed correct but failed (as have most commentators) to highlight one key detail that most people are not aware of: the subpoena expires when the current Congressional session ends. So running the clock out on the subpoena does not require the GOP to recapture the house. It ends when the 117th Congress is sworn into session, no matter who controls the house. The new house will have to issue a new subpoena.Osodecentx said:Cobretti said:...The Committee waited until its last scheduled hearing and just before the House is expected to flip to GOP control. I'm surprised there isn't more enthusiasm. Trump has had to sit quietly all these months, wanting to defend himself, but they wouldn't let him. Now he finally gets a chance to make his case. This is what we've all been waiting for, right?

There is a lot of enthusiasm for Liz Cheney to get a best actress Emmy.

It makes sense to gather information from as many sources as possible before confronting Trump. It's the one way they might get some semblance of truth from him.4th and Inches said:Trump said its about time on Truth Social.. why wait so long?Sam Lowry said:

It'll never happen. I just found out Republicans are a new party, i.e. a wholly owned subsidiary of Trump International.Sam Lowry said:It makes sense to gather information from as many sources as possible before confronting Trump.
