Gonna ban the TT and save us from the Red Chinese.

So 1950s.

The TikTok.

Apparently, it's more dangerous to kids than school shooters, and more dangerous to adults than FISA, The USA PATRIOT ACT, etc.

TikTok should be banned because its rotting kids minds.

Especially the minds of young adolescent girls.

Suicide and depression are sky high compared to the late 90s and early 2000s

It's business model is getting people hooked...and if it causes depression, anxiety, and suicide...who cares.

https://www.texastribune.org/2022/02/01/teenage-girls-suicide-pandemic-covid/
"Hospital admissions for teenage girls who may have attempted suicide have increased 50% nationwide."

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/05/17/724299570/suicide-rate-among-girls-rising-faster-than-for-boys-study-finds

And the studies show that social media is poison to all of us...but especially young people.

[The TikTok algorithm is interest based, so it shows content that reflects what viewers have previously watched whether they engaged with it or not. Within a short space of time, the algorithm can detect their hobbies and interests, sense of humor, fashion style, music tastes, sexual orientation, political views and much more. This personalized viewing experience sounds harmless but it can push users down a rabbit hole that can reinforce negative thoughts and behaviors, and bombard them with content that is not always healthy.

Every time users watch a video on TikTok, dopamine is released in their brains in a way that mimics the effects of drugs and there is not much that can compete with this type of stimulation. Young people are more predisposed to addiction because their brain development is not complete until they reach 25 to 30 years old

So you would ban all social media? Cuz that's pretty much how it works. Except that dopamine is not released "every time users watch a video", it is far more complicated than that in some sense and far more basic in that not every experience results in a release of dopamine. That bolded statement is bull***** That logic would require banning sex and learning.

Am I an addict for microdosing dopamine while playing games on my phone or Playstation?

If we ban kids from having beer before age 21 I sure as hell think we should ban social media before that age.

Beer is far less destructive to young people than social media.

Look into it...these companies use tactics best described as "cult like" and even brainwashing to get people addicted.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-art-living-free/202202/how-we-became-brainwashed-social-media

https://voxatl.org/social-media-influencers-brainwash-opinion/

NYU professor Scott Galloway has been studying social media like tiktok...he says ban it all and ban it yesterday. He explains how even the dating apps are manipulated and a disaster for human interaction.

Even if you were addicted to video games the likely hood it would lead to suicide is low. And if you get addicted to it later in life even less of a chance.

Social media is very different among the young.. is literally driving young people crazy...especially girls.

And the dating apps as described by Prof. Galloway are creating mass disfunction in human mating habits.

Every two hours in this country a young girl under the age of 25 kills herself.

We are talking more than 4,000+ dead young people a year in the USA.

For every completed suicide by youth, it is estimated that 100 to 200 attempts are made.

https://www.sccenter.org/programs-and-services/for-teens/teen-suicide-facts/

On average less than 30 people die a year in school shootings in the USA.

With about 600+ killed since 1970

And the most growth in school shooting taking place since the year 2000

It is also not surprising at all that transgenderism and gender dysmorphia took off in the internet age.

[When Jay told his mom he was bisexual at 14, she was supportive. But when he came out as transgender a few years later, she pushed back. She felt blindsided by the news. YouTube videos and online forums soon convinced her that she was right to feel that way. To her, it was clear that Jay was simply mistaken. A trans contagion called "rapid-onset gender dysphoria," spread through social media, had caught hold of him and convinced him he was not female, she said. The Internet had turned him trans.]

We are confusing the hell out of our kids. My sister-in-law, an elementary music teacher, estimates around a quarter of her students are struggling with whether they are boys or girls. Simply incredible.

It's a limited plan based on some good ol fashioned Red baiting. State universities have banned TT already

But you accidentally raised an important point.

When George Bush first ran for governor his main three issues were things that a Texas governor had no statutory or constitutional authority to do. He nevertheless achieved all three through use of the bully pulpit. My education allowed me to recognize that, sorry that yours didn't.
“Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.” (The Law, p.6) Frederic Bastiat

I was unaware the governor of Texas could ban TikTok or social medial

I learn something every day from the Einsteins on this site.

The Einstein you refer to is your governor, genius

So you misleadingly package your thread as Abbott banning TT from the State of Texas, when in truth he's banning it from state-issued devices, and have the audacity to question others' intelligence?

You are a dumb ass.
He also doesn't know what the word censorship means.

Add that to the list, along with "Libertarian."

We just need to make sure every young girl can cut her tits off and pretend to be a man and then they'll be fine.

The Internet had turned him trans.]

https://www.heritage.org/gender/commentary/how-big-tech-turns-kids-trans
"The spike in teens using social media and identifying as transgender is no mere coincidence."

"2,000% spike in transgenderism identification among the young in just the past two years"

We are confusing the hell out of our kids. My sister-in-law, an elementary music teacher, estimates around a quarter of her students are struggling with whether they are boys or girls. Simply incredible.

One of my wife's friends daughters came out as a man on facebook. Beautiful girl, had her breasts removed, and now goes by Xavier. And of course, got several hundred likes.
The effect of the internet and social pressure/approval is obvious in cases like this.

Humans have simply not changed on a biological level since the year 2001.

With diagnosis of gender dysmorphia being less than 4 cases per 100,000 in 2001 to more than 50 cases per 100,000 today.

There is simply no way that such incredible increases in trans is possible with out it being a social phenomenon.

p.s.

Here is a study showing that in 2017 there were 15,000 new diagnoses in the United States of patients ages 6-17 with gender dysmorphia. Just 4 years later in 2021 it had blow up to 41,000
