It started by helping out families that were really down on their luck

Then they started ramping up the definition of 'down on your luck'

By the time the show ended they were tugging on the heartstrings by helping families whose kids were like born with their brain outside of their body and other f'ed up stuff

If Rachel Madcow or any of the other fake, phony libs out there really cared about children being separated from parents that commit crimes (and like it or not an illegal alien by definition is a criminal) they would've long since been crying about the children of legal citizens that get separated from parents every day in America because of bad decisions by their parents. Committing crime has multiple bad consequences attached to it, one of which is families get separated and broken apart when the offending criminal gets incarcerated. Real simple solution - don't commit crime - including illegally entering the USA.
