Hey...all the Conservatives who are bellyaching about Ds stopping the wall..... let me remind you of a simple TRUTH.....

The Republicans have controlled the majority in House, Senate and WH..if the President had truly wanted a wall, he needed exactly ZERO from Ds. So it is his and Republicans fault for no wall.. ..facts are tough to swallow but are good medicine for POTUS fake news!

And in Obama's first two years, the D's had all the power. Why weren't gun laws passed and immigration fixed?

If the excuse is they were working on health care, that's lame. If they weren't running to the MSNBC cameras all the time to tell us about the bad Reps (same goes for Reps running to Fox) perhaps they could of done both.

Bottom line is that in reality neither party is in tune with themselves enough to pass anything of significance that can stand the test of time. They are one party in name only. Without a bipartisan effort on any of these issues, nothing lasting will get done that is of any significance.

Congress should not allocate one dime for a wall Trump promised Mexico would pay for. Not one dime.

Congress should allow every dime needed for securing our southern border even if Mexico doesn't pay for it .

Otherwise in less than 40 years Canada will need to build a wall .

So why didn't the Dems fix immigration (and gun legislation) between 2008 and 2010? Has nothing to do with Trump. Neither party is solid enough in its own right to pass anything of lasting significance without votes from the other side. Trump is an utter failure, but that doesn't explain why the Dems left two of their three bell-weather issues hanging based on your logic that when one party "rules" they should be able to do whatever the president wants......a completely bogus logic. Neither party is a body of one in and of itself. That is a fact.

Things passed with no bipartisan support will never last. It will be nitpicked to death as soon as the other party gets in power.

Trump needs 60 votes in the senate. President, House O'Representin', and senate are not 3 branches of government. You must have missed that day in Civics 101.

Aw you spilled the beans.

And it was so amusing to watch the old fraud rant .

In the Senate Trump needed 60 votes . And there are not 60 Republican senators .

No reasonable person can say that immigration's death -- in 2013 and 2014 -- is anyone's fault but House Republicans. Still, we also understand why they killed it: They saw no short-term benefit. Yes, the long-term politics (for 2016 and 2020) cry out for Republicans to remove immigration as an issue. But doing so would be so painful in the process (just see Eric Cantor's primary defeat). All of that said, the longer Republicans wait on passing immigration reform, the longer the wounds with Latino voters will take to heal. (NBC News)

That's nice. Now why did the Dems not fix immigration and gun legislation between 2008 and 2010? If the Reps were suppose to build the wall between 2016 and now (which was the point of this thread's poster), why shouldn't the Dems be in the same position for immigration and gun laws when they had the chance?

(This thread was as usual by the original poster a complete waste of everyone's time.)

The obvious answer is Democrats had health care as a higher legislative policy at the time. What's the GOP's excuse?

I guess Dems can only do one thing at a time? Don't think we get our money's worth with that kind of work ethic. Guess they are too busy being on talk shows pandering to their base. How are they going to legislate anything in the House and go after Trump at the same time? They can always find the time for things they really want. Not doing anything on these other major issues because of healthcare is a lame excuse. The staff were the ones writing this healthcare legislation. What were the elected members doing? Doubt we want to know.

As far as excuses go neither party is short of those. The problem is we let both of them get away with it. Why do you give any of them a pass? Does your boss expect that you can't multitask and is happy with it?

They all take too much time talking and most of that is directed towards attacking their peers across the aisle, not solving issues affecting all of us. Too much time is wasted on junkets home and away and having multiple committees talking to the same people. To say they can only do one major thing in two years and allowing that to be the standard is hogwash.

For the most part, all of this is just more proof that other than a few exceptions here and there, both political parties are by and large all part of the establishment swamp with the primary difference between the two mainly being their rhetoric which is designed to fire up and maintain each of their respective bases. One of those exceptions to this is Trump himself which is a huge reason why he struggles mightily to get much of the agenda he was elected to implement passed - even though his party has had majorities in both Houses of Congress in his first two years. It's highly inaccurate to continually assert that Trump has had "control" over Congress - he hasn't and with that in mind it's even more miraculous that the man has accomplished what he has accomplished to date, because other than the tax cuts much of it has been in spite of his party and not because of his party.

Very, very true (generally I am a Democrat because they move us a a nation toward values that help people) but the tax cuts are leading down the rabbit holes.
