A client has a daughter and grandson that live in the Bay Area. Daughter lives in East Bay and son lives in the city with his girl friend. All three are planning a move to Oklahoma. Housing costs are so high for the young couple that they can't get married because they would lose the rent subsidy housing based on the girl friend's income. The couple hardly leaves their residence because of the filth of human refuse on the sidewalks around their home. Usually only leave to go to work. They already have jobs lined up in OK.

The mother will do consulting work upon fleeing CA and can work from home.

They were trying to rent a u haul or other truck to move and said there are so many people leaving CA, and so few moving into the state that very few trucks were being returned so it is very difficult to find one. They arranged with a moving company instead of doing it themselves.

It's hard to believe that these conditions could persist. Now I'm hearing it's Texas' fault.

It all boils down to Democrats and leftists creating legislation that "makes up" for people's lack of personal responsibility: they place the burden on everyone else. In effect, everyone becomes disenfranchised.

Quote:

Oh these people can't be poor due to their own life choices...it must be the evil white man and rich people with too much money. Let's tax them until the problem is solved"
Your average Democrat doesn't have the IQ or capacity to accept or understand natural human behavior. They also have a psychological proclivity to blame others.

So of course they blame Texas. They're status quo is to point the finger and avoid personal responsibility.

As cruel as your post appears ......it is 100% right.

Unfortunately losers far exceed winners in most cultures .....and in our democracy that is fatal .

One can only hope that when they get to Oklahoma, they won't vote for California-style politicians.

Hopefully not, but the majority of those moving here are going to.

They're already doing it in Texas. Just look at how bad Austin is getting.

I work with a lot of people there, and similar stories. Among the greatest collection of wealth in the world, and they cannot provide basic support to the poorest among them.

U haul has such a shortage of trucks/trailers in CA they are paying people to drive them to CA and take some other way back home. I have heard they even have loaded several smaller trucks on to flat beds on trucks/rail to send out there.

I read an article recently that said San Francisco spent close to $100K PER homeless person last year (or this I forget which) and can't fix it.

But they can fix such major issues as no longer calling felons felons but calling them justice involved person

San Francisco is the most expensive city I frequent. It's still a wonderful city.

Lots of people are leaving California. But consulting from Oklahoma? That's gonna really suck. (Not because of Oklahoma but travel from there will be a drag. )

So, you think if "conservatives" took over San Fran but the demand curve stayed the same, housing would become cheaper?

That sounds like cut taxes to reduce the deficit logic.

Taxes/regulations were cut to create jobs. More jobs = more taxpayers.

Cutting spending is the only way to reduce the deficit.

Favoring Democrats over Republicans when Democrats are proposing $200 trillion in spending is screwed up logic.

How did you ever find yourself willing and on the side of a poorly run government and WANTING to give them more of your hard earned money?

That's just it. You don't know anything about San Fransisco's Government. Without looking you couldn't name the mayor. You know even less why Frisco has high homelessness. You'd be surprised to learn many of the homeless in Frisco also work.

I've seen homelessness in Santa Barbara (funny story), LA and San Francisco.

I've also see homelessness in Chicago, Atlanta, Tulsa and Dallas in the last 5 years. It's possible California creates its own problems. Or we we see their problem while ignoring ours.

First off, if you call San Francisco 'Frisco', they will laugh at your face.

Before progressives took over San Francisco it was one of the most beautiful cities in history. It had lively ports, amazing food, beautiful scenery, and not a human turd in site. Now it's disgusting.

Here's a little action from the Mayor:

When all the "quality of life crimes" are no longer crimes, your municipality attracts criminals.

California has the highest top income tax bracket in the nation at 13.3 percent, and its treasury receives a disproportionate 44 percent of income tax revenues from the top 1 percent of wage earners. Combine that with EXTREME regulations and hostile legal requirements for business while doing everything you can to attack citizens with requirements...you lose business. When businesses leave, funding leaves, education goes down the drain and homelessness rises rampantly.

I help lead a Dallas based consulting firm and live in OKC. I have an occasional extra night out when traveling West but overall travel is pretty great.

Traffic is easy. Airport is easy. Plenty of direct flights. Oh yeah, Exec Platinum on American.

And, there is definitely a reverse migration from Cali to Okla and Texas happening right now.

Way better quality of life in Oklahoma City compared to San Fran.

But its everyone's life.....if they wanna live in a socialist city with insane prices for basic life goods.....well that's their choice.

Lulz. All ten of their council members identify themselves as liberal as does its mayor. There hasn't been a republican mayor or majority council member GOP since 1992.

This is what's going to happen:

Texas will go blue eventually. The leftists and liberals will increase taxes and regulations. They will require and income tax. You will be penalized more than you already are. People will afraid to spend money. Businesses will leave. Houses won't sell. More money will be spent on welfare.

And Democrats that put them in power will be scratching their stupid ass heads trying to figure out what went wrong.

In the heart of every little scumbag leftist is the desire to destroy success. They crave it. If they can't have it, you can't either. They'd rather watch the world burn than live with the reality that their own lack of success is their own fault.
