The impeachment inquiry may be stupid, but it is not fake. It is really happening.

No, the reasons really happened. The dispute is not so much as to what happened, but whether what happened merits impeachment.

Can you provide us proof of what happened. Not your opinion or others, but actual blatant proof?

Actually what happened IS up for what really happened...and the reason behind it. Republicans read the phone call differently that Democrats do.

The problem I have is that since he won, Democrats have been running their mouths about impeachment...when Mueller failed, they are trying this. Since the Senate won't play along, it's just a waste on money.

You may believe that the President ask for a quid-pro-quo from Zelensky, I do not. So you see, the reasons ARE up for discussion.

There is no proof. It all depends on how you read the phone call transcript. IMO the most powerful testimony is from Zelensky who refutes the whole thing.

Yep.

They don't have proof and they're going to regret moving forward with impeachment because now Schiff, Pelosi, Eric Ciaramella, Biden and his son are going to have to testify. We're going to find out how they coordinated.

I'd be a little more sympathetic with the Democrats had they not preached impeachment since he was elected...even their own party members have stated this they are doing this to prevent him from being elected again.

I have a few questions. If Trump did what the Dems claim he did; withheld aid to Ukraine dependent on Zelensky's investigation of the Bidens because it was of political value to Trump, wouldn't it only benefit Trump if Biden was guilty of something illegal? If an investigation showed that Biden did nothing wrong, wouldn't that damage Trump politically and benefit Biden and the Dems? Are the Dems saying that Biden committed crimes? Because that's the only way a Ukrainian investigation would benefit Trump.

Trump will be impeached only because the Democrats control the House of Representatives.

This is solely punitive party politics and a disgusting farce .

Your president led a conspiracy to compel a foreign head of state to announce a criminal investigation into his potential rival who could upend his presidency. That's an abuse of power/office. The Dems will, probably throw in an obstruction article in there for good measure. Trump is getting what he deserves.

I have been banging this drum to the shockingly deaf ears.

It is not like he used the IRS to target political opponents. He asked a foreign government to investigate corruption. The government of a country where the former vice president threatened the former president not to investigate corruption and whose is getting bribed through his son (at least, likely more).

I do not understand why Democrats oppose investigating corruption. To your point: if Biden is clean, there is no "damage." The only harm to Biden is if he is corrupt. So Democrats must actually have the evidence that Biden is corrupt, otherwise, who cares. Running for president should not be a smokescreen against corruption ... oh wait the same people who do not want to investigate a presidential candidate are using government powers to try and get private records of a presidential candidate?

You have to have zero shame to be this hypocritical.

Partisan politics....period .

You clowns were yelling impeachment the moment the midterms gave Dems the majority in the House .

Any vote will clearly demonstrate the partisan nature of this farce .

You know there is zero chance for any conviction in the senate .......so all this is merely grotesque mudslinging geared toward the 2020 election .

Independent voters aren't going to buy this garbage either.
Going to blow up right in your face .

There are 14 Republicans currently serving in the House or Senate who sat in judgement of Clinton during his impeachment. They'll be asked about their change of heart.

Really think they are going to risk their economic prosperity for the likes of Biden or Ol Bernie ?

Think again .

The Mueller report really happened, too. Doesn't change the fact that they're both a giant waste of money and nothing more than political grandstanding. Same with Kavanaugh.

The funny thing is how this BS is going to do nothing but backfire on Democrats. If they had just managed to not act like insane dumbasses they would have walked away with the 2020 election. But, alas, they seem determined to cut off their own dicks.

I'm sorry but you have to be smart enough to know better than that. Hillary was cleared and that investigation still hurt her significantly as a candidate. Trump recognizes it's easier to brand someone as corrupt if they are under investigation for corruption. Sondland testified Ukraine didn't even have to follow through on the investigation, Trump really just wanted the public announcement of one on CNN, so that he could use it as a campaign issue against Biden just like he did against Hillary. The whole point was to have an investigation that was "up and running" through campaign season so he could make it an issue (which he has explicitly said he will do at his rallies), not that Ukraine would actually find anything.

We've seen this song and dance with Trump's GOP already: generate an investigation, keep a lid on it and string it along, while leaking tidbits (some real some not) through the Republican media ecosystem (e.g. how Jon Solomon has been used by Nunes et al). For proof that such a tactic works, look around at all the people in this forum claiming Biden had corrupt dealings in Ukraine based on evidence that really amounts to Rudy Giuliani's accusations and not much else, or all the people that are convinced Trump campaign figures were "entrapped" by US spies to frame Trump with Russia contacts just because Durham is investigating that accusation.

As for the question posed in the OPs thread title, Mueller's investigation actually made money. They seized more from Manafort than what the whole investigation cost.

So just like Mueller. He found nothing and it won Democrats midterms.

Giuliani has the evidence and it will be delivered in the Senate.

He better hurry up and do it before a warrant for his arrest gets issued. I think there's about a 25% chance he doesn't come back from Ukraine and instead hides out to avoid a perp-walk.

Or I just read the news in general. Pete Sessions was subpoenaed to appear before a Grand Jury and testify about his interactions with Giuliani (+ his indicted buddies Parnas and Fruman) over 6 weeks ago, which means Giuliani has been subject to a criminal investigation for some time now, but I bet you never heard about that reporting (by the WSJ ) from any of the Trump-loving fringe sources y'all exclusively get your news from.
