Our government is completely dysfunctional. If we can't get together in the middle of a national emergency and come up with a bi-partisan solution free of poison pills, we are absolutely doomed as a nation.

Vote all of these clowns out. Both the left and right have utterly failed us a nation. We need to stop playing the same tribal games and defending this bull***** On both sides of the aisle, these folks are playing political games with our lives at stake. To hell with all of them.

GOP source said Pelosi had a "laundry list" of additional requests, including election security funding. Dems also raised wiping out $10k in student loan debt & host of other issues

If true, then pathetic.

What did this "bipartisan" Senate bill say? It clearly was not the House bill that was passed last weekend and was summarized yesterday on this board. Was it all corporate bailout without condition and nothing for workers? The type of thing y'all went nuts over 11?or so years ago and that Trump talked about all the time in 16?

Nancy wanted 10,000 per student for student loan forgiveness.

This is the problem with these things. When they blow up because both sides are children, unworthy of the power they hold, we just get the same partisan blame game.

Knowing Mitch McConnell, who is just the other side of the ****ty Nancy Pelosi/Chuck Schumer/Adam Schiff coin, I have little trouble believing that a bait and switch took place. But I hold them all equally accountable for their complete inability to govern.

No one should be playing politics right now, and they all are.

Our government is broken beyond repair. It's time to hit the reset button and vote all of these ****bags out. This is a game to them. They don't give a damn about any of us.

Just wait and watch the media spin this over the next 24 hours.

It appears what really happened is that this so called bipartisan Senate bill did not pass in McConnell's own Senate.

And posting tweets (tweets!) from people that I have never heard of is gospel?

Dems freaked and voted against what they had agreed to.
PartyBear

There wasn't an agreement. McConnell apparently pushed it to a vote when they still wanted to negotiate and no the bill was nothing like that passed on the 14th in the House. It provided nothing for hospitals, for equipment, for first responders etc.

Maybe Jack can post a tweet from somebody to explain how Nancy Pelosi, who is in the House, controls what happens in the Senate.

Because it required Democrat support (60 vote rule)

Dems killed it. So be it. We can't afford it anyway

The vote was 47-47. How many Republicans are in the Senate? Not that it mattered if it took 60 votes. But it only had 47 GOP votes or less if was not a party line vote.

Nancy reminded Senate Dems that the goal is to impeach Trump, not help the American people.

Rand Paul is just one vote in the Senate. Looks like McConnell couldn't even get all the Republicans to back him. Whether 47-47 is party line vote or not.

Romney and a couple others are in quarantine. Nancy threw a grenade in the senate chambers. Americans suffer. Media will blame Trump.

True but Mitch is the one who would not let senators vote remotely. That seems like a poor decision. I think they will get it worked out tomorrow.

It was a straight party line vote.

5 senators in quarantine, I think at least 4 are Republicans.

Lee, Romney, Cruz, Paul

Another huge dump on Wall Street tomorrow because of these clowns. Retirement has merely become a distant dream for most Americans in the last thirty days. I am one of them.

Democrats shamelessly playing with folks lives. Or at least livelyhoods.

Shameful.

Do these stupid folks not realize when you are forced to shelter in place the $$$$ have to come from somewhere.

This is what you gets when folks that don't live in the real world have the vote.

Several things here.

First, very odd that there is all this complaining about lack of bi-partisanship when McConnell intentionally excluded the Democrats from the drafting process.

Second, very odd that the complaint is the Democrats are holding up getting money to the people when the Democrats's complaint about the bull is that the money is not going to the people, it's going to companies.

Third, this will get done in the next day.

In the Senate bill there is a large sum of non earmarked money for bailout left up to the Treasury Secretary's discretion as to who gets it and in what amount. Trump said today "we'll see" when asked if some of the non earmarked bailout money was going to him.
