Uhh, if you want a real answer it's because a lot of rappers still stay in/associate with the hoods in their areas. Taking shots lyrically at the opps(opposition) is a risky thing to do and many people take that **** seriously in those areas, so it's not surprising when a rapper is shot dead.

I still say it has to have something to do with their propensity for dumbass names. The correlation is just too strong.
