WACO, Texas - After the No. 14/22 ranked Baylor baseball team defeated Dallas Baptist University 8-6 on Tuesday at home, the Bears are set to take on University of Oklahoma in their second Conference series this weekend in Waco.

The first game will begin on Friday at 6:35 p.m., the second on Saturday at 3:05 p.m. and the third on Sunday at 12:05 p.m. CT.

Baylor’s 17-4 record is the team’s best start to the season since 2000, and after the win against DBU, their record for midweek games this season improved to 6-0.

The Bears began Tuesday’s game with an early lead of 5-0, however, the Patriots eventually knotted the game up in the fifth. Each team went on to score another run before the Bears took the lead in the bottom of the seventh and eventually captured an 8-6 victory.

Junior pitcher Troy Montemayor recorded his sixth save of the season and the 20th of his career, ranking him fourth on Baylor’s all-time career save list.

Senior designated hitter Matt Menard also recorded a 10-game on-base streak and five-game hitting streak, and had an RBI single that brought the score against DBU to 5-0 in the second. Freshman catcher Shea Langliers also had his third multi-RBI game this season.

Baylor leads the all-time series against Dallas Baptist 50-26, and is 36-17 in Waco.

Last weekend, Baylor opened conference play with a three-game series at home against West Virginia University. The Bears ultimately lost the series 1-2, and are looking for redemption this weekend against OU.

The Sooners (21-4) have a .840 winning percentage, but recently dropped a midweek game on Tuesday 3-4 against Oklahoma State. This will be OU’s first conference play of the season, and in a similar weekend series last year the Sooners defeated Baylor 2-1 in Norman.

Baylor currently trails OU in their all-time series 42-44.
