How Baylor's new passing game is built directly off the ability to run the ball

In my most recent article I discusssed the basic ideas behind the wide zone run game that Jeff Grimes wants to implement at Baylor.  Today’s article is the logical next step of addressing how the passing game complements the run game and builds off the base which the offense will lean on.

Grimes describes his offense as “an attacking multiple formation offense that runs a few plays a lot of ways, with as much misdirection as anyone in the country.

So when we can't run the ball we won't be able to pass either. Sounds like last years offense.

You do realize CABs offense was predicated on getting the run established first as well right? This will have a lot more wrinkles similar to cabs offense than anything Rhule or fedora put on the field.

I respectfully disagree. CAB took what the defense gave them. If they played run he would burn with the pass. If they focused on passing game he would run the ball. I don't really think CAB cared. I like running the ball best because if it is working its the safest way to win.

I was being sarcastic with my original post. I am in reality cautiously optimistic. I think our line will be better. I think our strategy will be better but last year was just so bad I have PTSD. I respect Charlie Brewer for the prior two years but man was he bad last year. The addition by subtraction there has to help. But with a new coach I have the firm belief of I will believe it when I see it. Been burned too many times before and last year was just awful - almost unwatchable and made me question the intelligence of Aranda when he refused to try anything different. I give some grace as he didn't have a camp to install an offense. I am hopeful. But we will see.

For many, myself included, anything less than a Briles level offense won't be good enough. That said, let's see what the new guy can do and if we score fast and often then my football joy will pick up. Sorry, we had a taste of the good stuff and nothing else will measure up. Sic em no matter, Sic em Bears.

Scoring more points than the other team and winning by one or 50 points is good enough for most Baylor fans.

Anything beats the typical run student body left, run student body right, run student body up the middle, punt scheme.
