WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball received its conference schedule on Wednesday when the Big 12 announced the 18-game slate for the Bears, completing their 30-game regular season for the 2021-22 campaign.

Baylor opens its Big 12 slate at Kansas State on Jan. 2 before returning to the Ferrell Center for its conference home opener against TCU on Jan. 5.

Texas comes to town on Jan. 9. The Bears then hit the road for back-to-back away games at Oklahoma (Jan. 12) and Kansas (Jan. 16). Baylor hosts Oklahoma State (Jan. 19) and Iowa State (Jan. 23) before traveling to Texas Tech (Jan. 26) and West Virginia (Jan. 29).

The Bears open the month of February at home against Oklahoma on Feb. 2. Four days later, Baylor treks down to Austin to take on Texas on Feb. 6. The Mountaineers come to town on Feb. 12, followed by a home game against Kansas State on Feb. 16.

The Bears wrap up league action with three games on the road – at TCU (Feb. 19), at Oklahoma State (Feb. 23) and at Iowa State (Feb. 28) – and two more at home against Kansas (Feb. 26) and the regular-season finale on March 5 against Texas Tech.

Baylor’s non-conference schedule was released July 30, featuring two exhibitions before the season opener at home on Nov. 9 against Texas State. Two more games stand between then and a road contest at Maryland before the Bears travel to Mexico for the Cancun Challenge from Nov. 25-27.

Baylor closes out non-conference action with four of its five scheduled games to take place at home, including the Big 12/SEC matchup against Missouri on Dec. 5. The lone away game during that stretch is the Bears’ contest with Michigan as part of the Naismith Women’s Challenge at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Tip times and broadcast information will be released at a later date. National and regional broadcasts will be announced, leaving the remainder of Baylor’s home games televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

I noticed a few curious things:

On 4 separate occasions, MBB & WBB will play at home on the same day:

Nov 15
Feb 12
Feb 26
Mar 5

Also, that Feb 26 matchup is with Kansas & MBB will also be playing Kansas that day.

Finally, isn't it strange that the Big 12/SEC challenge is in December? Isn't it usually in January just like MBB?

WBB BIG 12/SEC Challenge is traditionally scheduled after Thanksgiving tournaments.
My understanding is that WBB did not want it to interrupt conference play.

Maybe my memory is off. I gong suppose it matters. It's way earlier than for the men.

FWIW, Feb 26 also is the Saturday that is traditionally the final night of Sing (assuming they have it this year).

I had forgotten about that. Looks like a really busy weekend.

I cannot imagine Sing being cancelled with all the football & basketball games that will be played.

Dcheetah,
Appreciate your post !

"The climb to the top sometimes can be easy, but sustaining it, the consistency is the hardest [part]. I think that's probably one of the things I take the most pleasure in is that we have been able to sustain that elite level and consistency year in, year out."
