No. 12 Baylor (7-2) is upset at TCU (4-5) by a final score 30-28.

I am not really sure what that was. I pride myself on offering keen synopses of these games, but I’m really struggling to put into words what happened today. Chandler Morris threw for 461 yards. TCU had 565 total yards. The Frogs were up with the ball in the red zone at two minutes remaining.

And Baylor still could have won the game.

Recapping the first half, the Bears were red hot to start — until they weren’t anymore. The first possession of the game was a breeze for Baylor as Tyquan Thornton nabbed a ball for a touchdown and the ensuing TCU drive resulted in a fumble. That’s when the good stuff pretty much stopped.

Aside from a later touchdown from Drake Dabney and the defense holding the Frogs to three field goals on drives where they very well could’ve notched touchdowns, it was bleak. TCU had 289 yards to Baylor’s 156 and boasted 253 yards through the air to the Bears 64. That led to a 16-14 deficit for the good guys at the break.

The second half was a Morris show. Missing former head coach Gary Patterson and typical starting quarterback Max Duggan, it felt like TCU was just playing for the future — and the future is now. Morris ran. Morris threw. He was the kryptonite for Baylor.

So, what kept the Bears in the game? I don’t really know. The stats, the eye test and the momentum all favored the Frogs. And a late interception by Gerry Bohanon on the possible game-winning drive was the nail in the coffin.

I guess we’ll see you at 11 a.m. next Saturday?
