Down 6 at half, the Bears win AND cover the spread! I don't need the anxiety, fellas - make it easier on my aging heart!!

Who said it bothered me? I was trying to help. Getting the score through an app is a lot easier than refreshing a fan board.

Flagler and Akinjo carry the team again. Looks like this backcourt duo is officially full go (I think it was official at least a game ago, but anyway...)

I don't feel anxious with this team. If we're down at half, I'm pretty confident that we'll make a run early in the second half to get right back into the game and another later to put it away.

You can add Cryer to that list as well. He hit some big shots, too.

Our guards aren't quite as good as last year's, but they're still really damn good.

True but best not to be down in the first place.

That's not realistic over a full season against quality competition. These other teams are talented and playing hard, too.

Good game for the most part. Would have liked to seen both teams at full strength.

Naturally.

It just goes to show his strong & deep the league is: the second to the last team in the conference can hang with the #1 team in the country & give us a scare for at least part of the game. Like I said before: this was a wake up call. There was some sloppiness & dumb mistakes. We should play every game the way we did against Villanova.

Is TCU a Quad 1 win?
I think so. Copied and pasted below (pre game info)

TCU is 10-1 and #46 on the NET rankings so this will be a Quad one win if the Bears take care of business.

"Quad 1" wins are the headliners on any resume. The quadrant includes home games against teams in the top 30 of NET, neutral-site games against the top 50 and road games against the top 75.

Someone let me know if this has changed
https://www.slipperstillfits.com/2018/2/11/17001468/march-madness-bracket-rankings-gonzaga-bulldogs-snubbed

  • Quadrant 1: Home 1-30; Neutral 1-50; Away 1-75
  • Quadrant 2: Home 31-75; Neutral 51-100; Away 76-135
  • Quadrant 3: Home 76-160; Neutral 101-200; Away 136-240
  • Quadrant 4: Home 161-plus; Neutral 201-plus; Away 241-plus

"The committee's decision to focus on, for example, Q1 or Q2 wins, or Quadrant 4 losses, is a direct result of its desire to place greater emphasis on winning away from home, and to demonstrate how difficult it is to earn those wins," said Dan Gavitt, the NCAA's senior vice president of basketball."

Commentary: LOL

And have quality coaches.

In CBB players get hot and shoot above their average

Is there any college sport where road games are as hard as basketball? On the road fans are right on top of the players requiring road teams to be mentally tough every single time for all 40 minutes.

Bears came back from down 9 early in the 2nd half to end it +12. Nice rally.

Hadn't TCU lost only one game this year? What makes them next to last?

Game took a turn when Cryer and Brown got going on the offensive end. They are going to be critical to the overall success of this team moving forward, and it was a key reason we looked so good previously when they were being more productive.

That's not how basketball works. You're not going to play well every night, and your opponent is going to play out of its head sometimes. When those things happen together, a good team can get run out of the gym.

The fact that this team has taken several good teams' best punch and still controlled almost every one of those games in the second half is remarkable, especially for a team with several young guys playing heavy minutes.

Competitive games aren't scares. They're an occupational hazard for all basketball coaches and players. I think there are certainly things that this team can get better at, but you can't be better than 15-0, which is pretty damn impressive given the quality of teams we're playing.

Definitely. Wasn't meaning to leave LJ out, but with the exception if 1 or 2 more recent games, he's been big all season. James and Adam struggled a bit to open the season, though (Akinjo adjusting to a new team and the reality that he didn't need to be the go-to guy, and Flagler to a starting role and the early hand injury), but they really seem to have gotten everything together now, and just in time for the B12 gauntlet

On a day when Kansas and Texas took Ls, albeit on the road, it just goes to show you how difficult this league is top to bottom, and our guards being in form now is so huge. If we win the B12 again, I'm really starting to think we'll repeat. Anything can happen in March, and as today showed, in this conference, and Baylor vs the field, I'd still pick the field, but there's no doubt we're the singular favorites at this moment in time.

Gotcha.

Here's the crazy part. This team has had this run and kind of found its rhythm without Matthew Mayer as a significant scoring threat. We don't even need him to score to be an elite team, so long as he does all of the other things he does -- defends, rebounds, hustles, etc. If he ever does find his shooting stroke, it's scary to think about what this team can be offensively.

I'm a little worried about Sochan's injury because in him you lose one of the three long glue guys we have at the forward position, so both our depth and versatility will be impacted. But it will provide an opportunity for Bonner to get some important minutes, which will be good for his development.

No he wasn't…Romeo was in Florida on his honeymoon per his earlier post! Word is the happy couple will celebrate their anniversary watching the Baylor Equestrian team.

"Scare" may not be the best word. I think we were saying g pretty much the same. Thanks for the clarification.
