Mayer's 0-5 from 3 . How about trying to get to the rim? Or posting up? He's 6'9 and hangs out 30 feet away from the hoop
I totally agree. He should be able to post up anybody really. Once he establishes that he can step out for the jumper. But my gosh, the bad shooting from this team is infectious today. Horrible!IowaBear said:

I really thought in his senior year he was gonna actually be more of a consistent shooter, But apparently he's just always going to be streaky and up and down. Most frustrating thing is all the shots we're missing are open looks.

Ok, do we get off a shot with 7 seconds? C'mon Bears!

Will Thamba ever learn how to go up strong at the rim?
I have never understood why on a last shot opportunity we let it run down literally to 5 seconds before making a move. At that point the guy with the ball MUST shoot it and you know it. We used to start our last shot ops with at least 10 secs left...time for a pass or two and a rebound. Just keep the ball alive. This has gotten really bad, but its just not Baylor, I've seen this all over the NCAA.DanaDane said:
I'm baffled at how bad we've become at that.

Akinjo is playing injured right now, so the injured version of Akinjo, I don't disagree. He probably should be held out until 100%. But I trust CSD and the medical staff to hold him out if he risks aggravating the injury.
I can't remember the last time we got off a shot to end the half and made it.Johnny Bear said:DanaDane said:

Yes, but wasn't a good one.

Can someone explain why Mayer has zero consistency on his shot? To me it just looks really hurried. What's he worried about at 6'9". Just square up and rythmically nail it. He shoots it high over his head anyway so why the hurry.
Anyway, he should be roaming the baseline first. We have 3 other guards who can handle the perimeter. He doesn't need to be there. He's best utilized inside first. Good things happen when he is around the rim.
