Insider Notes: The latest on Austin Novosad's recruitment

Here is what I have gathered after talking to a couple sources on the recruitment of Baylor commit and Dripping Springs QB Austin Novosad‍.

The timeline has clearly been moved again. Novosad told me “very soon” last week and everyone, including me, was reporting that the decision would happen during the week but it didn’t. A LOT can happen and did happen in a week. 

Both Ohio State and Texas A&M continued to be in contact with him.

I can't read the premium article, but the tease doesn't sound encouraging.

I'm worried he's about to be a case study in why you shouldn't go "all in" on a kid. Even if you discovered him and got there first and feel like you've secured a strong commitment. Because there's clearly no such thing as a commitment until it's signed.

I hope we've got good backup plans.

Also glad that it doesn't seem like the rest of our class is built on Novosad's recruitment, the same way that Texas might lose half their class if Arch decided he'd rather play for LSU or whatever.
