Baylor has landed a commitment from 2018 San Antonio (TX) Clark High School prospect Ben Sims. A 6-foot-5, 241-pound prospect, Sims was offered by Baylor following a campus visit in February and spoke glowingly about Baylor’s academic offerings in addition to the coaching staff.

For Sims, an important factor in his college choice was the way in which Baylor plans to utilize the tight end position in its new offensive scheme. Sims made multiple trips to Waco for spring practices where he noted how Baylor used tight ends to stretch the field vertically as well as block.

While Baylor was his first major offer, Sims has picked up offers from Texas Tech and Arizona State in recent weeks, as well as offers from the likes of Houston, SMU and UTSA.

Sims is a three-star recruit who was first-team all-district as a utility player in his junior season. As a junior, Sims caught 30 passes for 477 yards and two touchdowns.
