Baylor Men's Tennis Qualifies Four into ITA Regional Semifinals
WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis wrapped up the fourth day of play in the ITA Texas Regional Championships on a rainy Sunday in Waco. Doubles action began outside at the Hurd Tennis Center but was moved into the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center less than an hour in due to heavy rain.
Finn Bass was the lone Bear to find an advancing spot to the regional singles semifinals, while in doubles, Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz will join Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi in the next round.
THE RUNDOWN
In doubles play, Velcz and Paroulek kept a commanding lead on court one, defeating Storch and Ross from Texas A&M, 8-3. A few courts over, Bass and Grassi Mazzuchi battled and won against Krall and Muniz Hidalgo from SMU in a tie-break, 7-6(5).
Bass took a straight-set win singles play, defeating Schachter from TAMU with a 6-3, 6-3 decision. Marko Miladinović and Ethan Muza both collected wins in consolation on Sunday afternoon, with Miladinović defeating TCU’s Vives, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(8), and Muza beating TAMU’s Casper, 6-2, 6-4.
Paroulek and Grassi Mazzuchi ended their singles run in the ITA Regional quarterfinal round after the pair each lost in their respective matches on Sunday afternoon. Paroulek dropped an early tiebreak in set one before falling, 7-6(3), 6-3, while Grassi Mazzuchi nearly mirrored, 7-5, 6-3.
Back in the consolation bracket, Velcz forced a 10-point tiebreak in his consolation match against Muniz Hildago of SMU, but fell 1-6, 6-4, 1-0(8). Christopher Frantzen also had a pick-up match against Ross of Texas A&M, but dropped it 6-3, 6-2.

The Bears return to the Hurd Tennis Center, weather permitting, on Monday morning for the semifinal round of doubles beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the semifinal singles at 1:30 p.m.
