CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Sera Hasegawa shot a 1-under 70 to lead Baylor women’s golf to a tie for eighth at the Battle at the Beach on Sunday at Club Campestre San Jose.

Hasegawa carded her sixth-straight round at par or better as BU finished with an 11-over 863 to complete the fall semester. Playing as an individual, Anika Veintemilla had the best week of her career, collecting her career-first top-10 finish after an even-par 71 on Sunday clinched a tie for ninth for the senior.

BU finished tied with Arkansas at 11-over 863. LSU won the event with a 14-under 838, six shots better than second-place TCU, who fired an 8-under 844.

THE RUNDOWN

Veintemilla set a new career high with two rounds at par or better in one event, to finish tied for ninth. Starting at No. 17, she bogeyed two of her first three holes to drop to 2-over par. The senior responded with birdies at four of her next eight holes to get back into red figures. Bogeys at No. 13 and No. 16 to finish would drop her to even par, but she would still notch her career-best finish and career-best 54-hole score.

Hasegawa finished tied for sixth with a 3-under 210. The sophomore started with a bogey or worse on her opening hole at No. 5 for the third-straight day, but she bounced back immediately with a birdie at No. 6. She would add another birdie at No. 13 to close her opening nine. After five-straight pars, she would make a bogey at No. 18, but it would be her last bogey of the day. She closed with four pars and a birdie at No. 3 to shoot par or better in all three rounds this week.

Silje Ohma shot an even-par 71 on Sunday to finish tied for 37th. With two birdies and a bogey in her opening four holes, she would get to 1-under and stay there through 11 holes until another bogey at No. 17. At even par, Ohma bogeyed Nos. 1 and 2, but closed with birdies at Nos. 4 and 5 to finish off her first round at even par or better since the opening round of the Stanford intercollegiate.

Rosie Belsham finished tied for 21st after a 3-over 74 on Sunday. Starting at No. 5, she made a pair of pars to start, but bogeyed the par-5 seventh for her first bogey of the day. She made two more bogeys at Nos. 11 and 13 to close her opening nine at 3-over. The junior would finish with nine-straight pars, snapping a streak of four-straight rounds at par or better.

BaiMai Seema finished tied for 44th after a 3-over 74 on Sunday. She made a bogey on her second hole of the day at No. 9, but got back to even with a birdie at No. 12. She made bogeys at Nos. 15 and 16 and one more at No. 6 to close out the round.

Britta Snyder tied for 60th after a 4-over 75 in the final round. She opened with a pair of pars at Nos. 8 and 9 but dropped over par with a bogey at No. 10. After making a birdie at No. 13, she made a double bogey at No. 16. She made another bogey at No. 2, followed by two more birdies at Nos. 4 and 5. A double-bogey at No. 6 saw Snyder finish her first tournament of the season without at least one round at par or better.
