WACO, Texas – No. 11 Baylor men’s tennis heads to Virginia to face William & Mary on Friday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m., followed by the defending national champions and current No. 1 Virginia on Sunday, Jan. 22, at noon CT.

William and Mary opens its season against the Bears on Friday at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The two first faced one another in the 2022 edition of ITA Kickoff Weekend in Waco, where the Bears swept the Tribe, 4-0.

No. 1 Virginia (2-0) hosts the Bears after a road match against Liberty on Thursday evening in Lynchburg. The Cavaliers hold a 9-6 record against Baylor, with their last meeting ending in a 4-2 win for the Bears in February of 2022.

Baylor is winless in five previous matchups against a top-ranked Virginia team and 3-11 all-time against No. 1 teams, a record boosted by beating then-No. 1 TCU twice last season.

The Bears are hot off their season-opening doubleheader Sunday, where they swept Lamar and Incarnate Word and only dropped two sets combined against them.

Head coach Michael Woodson debuted three Bears Sunday in sophomore Justin Braverman and freshmen Zsombor Velcz and Luc Koenig in spring dual match play.

Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi are ranked at No. 3 in the doubles rankings released at the end of the fall season, with the pair splitting for Bass’ No. 23 and Grassi Mazzuchi’s No. 115 rankings in singles. Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz also boast a No. 59 ranking in doubles.
